I think the guy's actions were certainly not appropriate in any way, but I don't think he should be fired. For me it is a matter of principle. HG Welles in his novel 1984 claimed "Big Brother is watching" and for the longest time I kept wondering WHO Big Brother actually was. After this incident I now have the answer. It is our employers.

I think we have finally slipped down the slope and no longer need to be rhetorical if I ask "How would your employer feel if they found out you were on an escort review site, or even provided a totally sincere review of an escort." After this incident you'd be fired for sure.
I agree that him being fired for behaviour while not at work is wrong. Unfortunately we live in an age where not big brother is watching but every citizen seems to be spying on each other. It's positively unreal to me but it apparently is the gotcha culture of the Internet generation. It's fun until it turns on you and destroys your life.

Does this guy deserve to have his life destroyed? No- he needs a smack in the mouth from someone's dad (like me) and told to learn some manners.

It's also part of the realty tv age and the trash talking that is shown as competitive spirit when it's really cowardly and poor sportsmanship.

Huh?
If a reporter asks you for an interview, all you need say is "no thank you." The reporter will move on to someone else. If you agree to an interview, it's fair to assume that it may be used in a newspaper or on TV. If you're walking along and see an interview being recorded by a camera, simply walk around it so you won't be on TV. It's the nice thing to do and you're allowing the reporter to do his/her job.

I hate these media corporations using us as their interview backdrop without permission, if I happened on this crap blocking the public sidewalk I'd say something to disrupt it as well.

I was thinking the same thing, is like an endless collective of people who have a time on their hands are piling on and judging everything.

The guy was going to be outed as a hydro employee or ex hydro employee. Hydro had to make a decision that was best for hydro's image, and they made it.

I agree with everything you say. I guess my "Big Brother" analogy, where the employer is "Big Brother", is that employers obviously wield a lot of power over us. My neighbour can do a "gotcha" and post it on the internet for sure, but really, it is a current employer (note I am self-employed) or future employer that has the potential to "ruin" my life economically. It appears as if we are held to their "standards" in private life.

I mean my god, what I did, when I was employed as a 25-30 year old definitely could have gotten me "fired" if shown to a manager or a client - but I think that is the case for most people in that age group. We've got money, freedom and alcohol.

I wish his employer or manager, or HR-drone would take the role of a dad and give him a smack in the mouth and be told to learn some manners as opposed to dolling-out true economic punishment.

There is no privacy anymore. Just ask Donald Sterling. Just ask the Oklahoma boys on the bus. And some of you guys are fretting over Bill C-51. We should be more concerned about the cellphone camera, especially if you are a cop.

Really Sherlock? You didn't think anyone noticed the very first guy who said it to which the entire rest of the conversation revolved around? And you just noticed this now?

As for "nothing incriminating" have a listen around 1:05 where the little mouthpiece says "you are lucky there is not a fucking vibrator here/in your ear(?)" .

But that is not incriminating to you because you share his values.

Not just feminists, most of society doesn't think prostitution is "cool". But what does that have to do with these douchebags accosting women just trying to do a job?

But in any case, your lame attempts at arguing equivalence are fallacious.

Thanks for trying!

I have no anger, just using the mask of the internet to let out what a lot of people hold back when they encounter idiots. :thumb:

Just about 2 miles past appropriate
The important thing is that everyone is staying calm and able to discuss this world-changing event without getting all worked up. Good job everyone! I think we can all agree that saying disgusting, crude, suggestive things to an attractive women you're meeting for the first time is completely inappropriate unless you have agreed on a price and given her money up front.

What we really need to focus on is the potential damage of this to the immense popularity of pro-soccer in Canada and the sterling reputation of Hydro One.:eyebrows:

Hey guys, dont forget to charge all these guys with sexual assault, string them up on a pole, parade them around town, and make sure they all have criminal records and are recorded as sexual offenders.

Then, and only then, will all feminazis be satisfied.

You guys really are fucking pathetic!!!!!!

As much as he deserved it, there is no way the Hydro One union going to let this guy lose his job over this, unless of course he is in a non-unionized management job, but by the looks of him that is highly unlikely.
I agree with you 100%. These DRUNK guy's are clearly A1 douchbags. But getting fired over something you've done in your personal life... Did they rape or murder someone, no... I think if he took this to court he would win. If you take away the anger and vindictiveness out of this and look at this objectively (easier said then done). You may come to a different conclusion regarding his firing. Was he working? No. Was he wearing a Hydro One uniform? No. Was he drunk? Yes. Is he young? Young enough to act like a child. Did he bully that reporter? Yes. Does that warrant his crucifixion and the ruining of his life? What do you think?

Now let's flip this around. Let's say we switched gender's for argument sake. Male reporter with drunken female's on the other end. More then likely it would be the joke of the day. Right?

I'm not saying what these guy's did was right by any means. I just think it's gone to far IMO. These guy's have to suffer for the rest of there lives? Is that right? It seems like something an ex-wife would do to her ex.

Some of the things that have been said on here have been way worse then what was said to that reporter.
