perhaps Bell (TSN) will buy the Expos. Build a new stadium (the Big O is tired) and have Montreal in the AL East.
Bell's head office is in Montreal. What will they name the new stadium? Bell Centre is already taken.

Good start. Hutch looked real good.
I like Martin and Donaldson. They are going to be a real plus helping Bautista and Encarnacion lead the team.

Jays win! Jays win! Jay 6, Yanks 1.
An excellent start by Drew Hutchison augmented by shutdown relief work by Aaron Loup and Miguel Castro. Eddy Encarnacion and Devon Travis homered for the good guys.

I can never get enough of watching the parrot get taken for a walk. Nice win against the A-Roids.

This year will see a marked improvement on how our pitchers are managed. A few years ago JP didn't have a clue.

Maker's Mark Manhattans on the house.

Montreal was great, we sat in left field for both games. The Big Owe certainly has seen better days, but it was cool to see it filled with spectators. I wonder how many were visiting from TO, vs hometown fans. I don't think a couple of preseason series will be enough to sway MLB to putting a team back in Montreal, but it's a start.

I'm excited about the season, and all the rookies. It's going to be fun to watch. I think we're a better team than we were this time last year, and will win more games than we did last season. Whether we win 7 more games than last year is the big question...with Stroman in the lineup I would be a lot more confident about this. My big concern is Boston - I hope their starting rotation implodes.

Enjoyed watching today's game on TV, but will soon grow tired of Buck and Pat. Buck mispronounced some names and got the score wrong a couple of times. You have one job...

Liked how poised Castro looked in his debut, though I think the ump just wanted to get the heck out of there and gave him a couple of strike calls. Lots of movement on the fastball, though.

I came home early from work and just watched the 9th and I thought the Ump was pretty anxious to get home too. I questioned some of the strike calls on Jose as well.

I think he had a generous strike zone all day.

I recall hearing during pre-season that the umps are going to call it more in line with the way it's written in the rule book. One example is that now they will call the strike at the bottom of the knees instead of at the top.

Shack,
Fieldin Culbreth has always been generous with the size of the strike zone. I guess he would be known as a "pitcher's umpire."

I guess if his name was Hittin Culbreth it would be a smaller zone.

Good info. Thanks.

As an aside, I just finished listening to a wonderful album by a group called The Baseball Project(Buck and Mills from REM provide guitar and bass). It is called 3rd. Not only is the music excellent, you can tell these guys love baseball by the topics of the songs. One about Lenny Dykstra (From Nails to Thumbtacks), Luis Tiant and other escaped Cubans (Hola America), Boxscores deals with escaping life for a half hour a day by diving into the stats, Extra Inning of Love (speaks for itself), Larry Yount (HoF'er Robin's older brother who made it to the bigs only to blow out his arm in the bullpen while warming up to pitch in his MLB debut and never made it back, now lives in the shadow of Robin), Baseball Cards and songs about Cy Young, Hank Aaron, A-Rod and the Babe. I highly recommend it to any baseball fan.
