Bring Extra Towels

When receiving clients at a hotel I think one of the biggest tells when an indy or agency SP’s are in a hotel is when they have to call down and ask for “extra towels” be delivered to their room during the day. (Not only that but the amount of towels that are left behind in the room for cleaning staff to pick up.)

In post C-36 I would not be surprised if some hotel establishments have issued instructions to their services staff to start keep tabs on such requests and report them to hotel management. This happened to me when I saw a regular of mine. It was about early afternoon and she had mentioned when she had just gotten to the room there were not many towels I think there were only two (she used one and I used the other) and knowing she was going to need more she had called down before I got there to request extra’s and told me not to be alarmed if there is a knock at the door.

This of course got me thinking afterwards that in the current environment to better protect themselves and more so now their clients it may be a good idea for SP’s to invest in and buy some extra towels and start a new practice of packing and bringing those extra towels with them when doing incalls at a hotel to save them from calling to request extra’s thereby staying below the hotels managements radar and not draw any unneeded attention to themselves and whatever room number they happen to be in that particular day.

Given peoples concerns expressed in threads on the board the last few of days and this thread https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?518858-general-warning regarding LE casing a particular hotel, I thought I would post my suggestion for consideration. Safe hobbying.

While this is a great and wonderful consideration, if you are discreet, hotels do not bother you.

Also there are plenty of other reasons why people call down for extra towels. It's not really a big concern. Management does not knock on your door to assume a certain activity is taking place. It is an invasion of privacy most won't attempt.

Maybe if you are calling housekeeping 20+ times, some may raise their eyebrows, but once or twice to replenish is not a big deal.

I sometimes bring my own towel (in my gym bag) to hotel meetings.

Most of the time I keep an extra set of clothing in the trunk of my car as well.

So you think that hotels will place personal morality over profits?

From what I heard, hotel management normally know what's going on but they usually turn a blind eye because an occupied room is better than an empty one. They will not bother you unless there's disturbance and if someone complains.

For a SP to bring extra towels may be a good idea, but if she is on tour most of the time, it will be a hassle to get them laundered.

I once had an instance where an SP opened the door while I was getting dressed and asked the housekeeper for more towels, yikes talk about embarrassing and obvious :)
