So there's a new documentary (well new to me because I just discovered it) called Tricked, on Netflix. It explores the world of escorting and brings a very negative light to hobbying. I always figured hobbying was a victimless crime...girls are empowered to do what they want with their bodies and make some money for something they have fun doing. No harm, no foul, right?
Well, this documentary explores the manipulative world of human slavery (for lack of a better term) and pimping. These pimps (slave masters) look for weak girls that they can expose and then force them into this world against their will. Many of these girls live on backpage, according to the documentary.
It kills me to think that there are women, sisters, daughters, mothers out there that are forced into sex-slavery and feel they have no way of getting out.
Today I was feeling the itch, looked at backpages, drove by a couple MPs I know of but couldn't bring myself to take the plunge out of fear that the girl on the other side isn't doing this because she wants to.
There's a quote in the movie that goes something like this "killing someone's soul is no different than physical murder, and that's what is happening to these girls". I can't get that out of my mind.
I'm curious to hear the point of view form others on this forum that have seen the film, and most interested in hearing from some of the SPs here. Is this an accurate portrayal of much of the SP industry? How does one be sure to hobby only with those that are doing this for the right reasons (ie their own will)?
