Story highlights

Islam, the world's fastest-growing faith, will leap from 1.6 billion to 2.76 billion by 2050, according to the Pew study
Study collected data from 234 countries and territories; predicts fate of five major faiths -- Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism and Islam -- as well as folk religions and atheists
I do think Islam need a reform. As it is now it just feel there is too much anger and violence. The result is not a religion of peace.
IMO, way too strict which the stress might cause inhibited anger that will just explode one day.

I believe religion should be done in moderation, it is fine to believe in something and work towards it respectfully and peacefully (heaven or paradise or eternal life) but don't get all crazy/extreme about it.

"I am a false prophet and God is a superstition"

Humanity can never progress as long as we are in the thrall of archaic devotions.

It's sad that future projections show that humanity will continue to obey dogma and accept religious mythology. More worrisome is the fact that the fastest growing religion in the world has a major issue with violence, hatred, intolerance and jihadism.

If it is the fastest growing, what stocks can I invest in?

Is there a stock symbol for ISIS or Hamas? How about a publicly traded company that builds only mosques or prints korans? How about halal meat companies or hijab manufacturers?

It is not as bleak as it seems

Atheism, or not believing in a religion, is also growing

Consider that atheists are discriminated against (never get elected unless you pretend to have a religion) so a lot of them are in the closet

The Church of the wican believes in nature

Buddhism believes in science

Church Of Philosophy

Unitarianism

Ab Lincoln was an atheist

This is only from what I have heard, seen and experienced:
A lot of Muslim families on average have a whole lot of kids, so I feel that is also a reason for the growth.
Christian families usually aren't having as many children. And it seems that generally speaking Christians and other religions are more open/tolerant in allowing their children to choose what to believe. There is generally a choice.
For Islamic families this choice seem more unlikely since they seem to be a lot less tolerant towards others.

It's not really converts, it's the unsustainable birth rates that add to this figure of Islamic growth. Well Atleast when the whole world is Islamic then they can stop their jihad I guess. Lol I all seriousness I would say maybe 20 percent of the Muslim population is actually Islamic. Most are cultural Muslims and don't take the faith seriously at all. Jihadism isn't even the biggest problem with islam, it's the pseudo political system it takes the shape of. Your talking human rights abuses on a very large scale. The converts to islam are the truly sick ones that didn't receive Islamic indoctrination but still choose this "faith". The promise of Islamic heaven is probably too strong for people to overcome.

Islam is all about birthrates. That's the whole point. The power of Islam lies in its ability to generate a demographic surge, and produce the next generation of muslim warriors. Then these young men are set loose to conquer an enemy country. They kill the enemy men, and rape the women, weaponizing the wombs of these women to produce the next generation of muslim warriors, who will be sent out to conquer a new country, etc.., etc.. until all the world is "Dar al-Islam".

The entire point of Islam is demographic growth through high birthrates, and the taking of infidel women to produce the next generation of muslim warriors.

Damn! These guys are worse than Vikings. These "Muslim warriors" might be good at killing defenseless schoolchildren but they get killed (literally) when confronted with real warriors like the Israelis defense force or the United States marines.

Science is true whether you beleive it or not.

Religion is just a form of control exploiting our faith in God needed to explain our existence and purpose through the unknown.

When the scale tips away from the ignorance so will our reliance on religion for guidance.

Eventually, religion will dissapear and science will pervail.

Never allow yourself to be labeled by the ignorant into any group such as atheist, christian, muslim, conservative, scientologist, liberal...etc...it is just a form of control and limits your potential.

Free yourself from control imposed on you by the ignorant.

Once peak oil hits and the amount of oil pumped starts decreasing we will a significant impact on Middle East population levels.

Population projections that do not consider oil reserves running out are naive.

Excellent points. Yes, religion for many if not most, is a cultural thing.
