I don't believe that. That number is TTC union bullshit. But in any case, even if you believe it, that number represents only around 2% of the TTC budget. Since Rob Ford locked in exorbitant employee costs FAR higher than 2% we would really be better off paying the $50 million for a couple of days every few years--it'd be cheaper. And Queen's Park legislates the TTC back to work pretty quick anyway. As of now Rob Ford's actions have completely tied council's hands, there is literally nothing that council / Tory can do to bring down the exorbitant employment costs, because after handing out the juiciest contract ever, Ford locked it in by making it an essential service. It's untouchable now.
