Has anybody on this thread ever heard of reloaded ammunition? It is available at a fraction of the cost of new ammo. But if one were to expend some energy other than for masturbating, here is a further step. My .32 S&W longs cost about $35.00 for a box of 50. When I reload my own, they cost 0.00 for the brass, .03 for the primer, .12 for the bullet and about .02 for the powder. My press and dies were purchased years ago, so no cost there. I can refill the box of 50 cartridges with reloaded ammo for about $8.50 a box. My friend reloads .38spl for about $9.50 and .45acp for about $11.00.
Reloading your own or purchasing reloads can be a way to substantially reducing your shooting costs.
As for safety, I have shot reloaded ammo for over four decades. I have never experienced any problems with reloads.

So what if you don't own reloading equipment? How much is a Dhillon progressive these days?
Brass is 0? You need time to pick up the brass, clean the brass, knock out the primer, inspect each casing for dents, etc.
Then there's load development to meet major or minor power factors.
How about actually finding powder right now? How about running around trying to find all the components these days?
Time is money.
Then there's the fact that if you reload, you inevitably shoot more.
If you are worried about ammo cost, shoot .22 cal to improve your proficiency with a pistol. You can have a larger caliber pistol that you shoot less often but will still be familiar with. There are too many shooters that are into pistols for the macho aspect. They go for the .44 cal., 45 cal., and magnum pistols to be a big man. Or they will show up with something like a Desert Eagle .44 cal pistol to compensate for their pea sized testes. If you have shot any of the above mentioned pistols you will know that most people can not shoot more than 10 rounds before your hands become numb. It is sort of like taking slap shots with a hockey stick. I could shoot a 38. cal. or a 9mm continuously without my hand becoming numb. I shoot a Browning Hi-power 9mm. and a Smith&Wesson model 41 22. cal.

I had a friend bring a crossbow from the city to my place for some practice. I was amazed at the accuracy of the thing.

One reason why I like the M1911A, for me a 9mm like the Bretta M9a1 is far more tiring and annoying. Now I will agree that for just plain plinking a 22 is great.
Ironically even 50 years ago crossbows were banned in most of North America because being a) powerful b) quiet they were regarded as ideal poachers weapons. There has been a total sea change regarding this.
On the one very limited point that a .22 is a cost effective way to learn to shoot and target practice.^^^^ did you just agree with Ceiling Rat??????
Been into firearms since I was a kid. Reloading just lets me shoot more ammo for the same price as commercial. I think the term is "Modern Day Sporting Rifle" as Assault rifles are prohibited and if you're shooting paper or steel, it's not a "weapon" unless you consider paper/steel a living organism.
When I used to shoot, my favorite pistol(beside 1911) was 9 mm CZ 75. A real pleasure to shoot with the best trigger action of them all. As effective and accurate one handed as in Weaver stance. So well designed pistol it feels like you're putting .22 through it instead 9mm. .357 Magnum Smith was a lot of fun, too. Accurate and it would really blow your hair back. But. Handguns are for kids. M-14, FN FAL and Garand were my favorite shooting tools. You can really reach out and touch someone with these.
How can you own these full-auto assault rifles when they are prohibited .... unless you lived in Serbia or something?
They are not full-auto assault rifles, they are semi-automatic assault rifles.
You need a special permit for a full-auto assault rifle (which is basically a machine-gun)

Sadly you can get a permit to own an assault rifle, but with all that has been happening in the world and what has been happening in Canada in the last year ( few months ) to posses one would put that person on a watch list. Anyone wishing to own one would have to have to explain his for owning one.
