Thanks for the article.
Ive been thinking about the role Photoshop plays in our community and wondered what the effects on SPs would be if there were some who choose not to use photo shop on any of their pictures.

Thank you for your kind words. :) No need to be sorry.

Yes I am quite nice. I was genuinely interested because I do respect a difference of opinion.

Also because I have experience with this in the fashion industry.

Go to any runway show during fashion week, out of a line-up of 20-30 models, maybe 2 are not Caucasian? You'll have 1 that is black (maybe) and one or two exotic looking (Asian or South Asian).

Depending on the market, it can be quite racist and extremely harsh to girls of colour.

I've been to castings where I definitely felt insulted due to my skin tone but I feel like it is definitely a learning experience that humbles you.

I came across this article a while ago and thought it might be interesting.

A journalist sent out a picture of a female to 25 different countries and asked graphic designers to retouch her photo to what they thought and considered to be beautiful.

Interesting to see different perceptions of what is beauty all over the world.
What I found really interesting was the darkening and lightening of the skin tone depending on the country, sometimes lighter than the majority of the population in that country.

You're welcome. I think it plays a big role in my experience.

Naturally I feel that if your pictures look amazing and your service is up to par, it doesn't matter about photoshop or getting your photos retouched. Just forego the whole long winded process.

In fact most guys prefer if there isn't Photoshop for fear of the photos being fake.

I've been booked for ad campaigns multiple times where I've seen the final product somewhere and I look 4-5 times lighter than I actually am in person.
Granted I'm not THAT dark, but still.

I try not to use that much photoshop in my SP photos because of that reason, but since I get mine done with a team, I have separate editors/retouchers who work with my photographers.

Sometimes when you shoot in studio and you go for different looks, you need different lighting to capture your vision.

Most times for darker females, that means you go up a notch on the lighting and use a ton of reflectors or a big umbrella.

Gotta get my good side! ;)

I was just defending myself against that guy who called me a "fucking idiot."

.
And i called you that cause what you said IS idiotic!! (IMO) And we are STILL waiting for your answer.. WHY do you think they are not attractive? You don't like their skin tones? Their lips?.. which many of the so-called women 'you like' PAY money to emulate? Hmm..

*White girls also wear extensions/fake hair too. It's just a lot less obvious because of the known hair type associated with the Caucasian/Asian race.
Fusions, clip-ins, some thread sew-ins, glue. Yeeeep.
So you are excusing black girls and yourself for using extensions due to the fact the girls you subconciously feel are better looking than you (due to being brainwashed by North American culture/media that they are) use them? That's pathetic.. That's no different than black people that previously didn't like their thick lips (due to the brainwashing i just mentioned) accepting them only AFTER whites accepted them on Angie Jolie. Fuck that bullshit!!!

Put 'Get lips like..; in Google and this is what you get..

The constant question you see is "How can i get lips like Jolie?" when the question SHOULD be: "How can i get lips like a black person?" cause they had thick lips long before she came along. It's just another example of this society only accepting or validating something/or a feature only when a white face is on it while forgetting or ignoring who/what was there with it BEFORE.

I find Aaliyah to be one of the most attractive woman ever.
I had a thing on her back in my HS days.

I've never really thought of Beyonce or Rihanna hot tho. Different features, I guess.
Aaliyah was just perfect IMO.

Attraction to certain features is a personal taste, not racism.

First off, in none of my statements do I talk about excusing anyone.
I speak from my own personal experiences, not the rest of the world.

Secondly, it is my prerogative to use extensions and it has nothing to do with feeling inadequate to other races.

My AFRO, which is actually quite big (think mini Solange or India Arie) in its natural state is the hardest thing to maintain and stays the way I like it for a maximum of 1-2 days. I am a perfectionist so I hate the upkeep and constant care. This is why I weave more than I leave it out.

I LOVE my skin tone and it is quite disrespectful on your end to assume anything about me by what is seen statistically or from things you find off google.

What is beautiful to one society is completely different to another society and with my experience in the fashion industry, I'd say I have a very liberal view of all things related to this.

I don't search on how to change my appearance so I don't understand why you brought up this argument. Lip injections? Really?

Subconscious self-esteem issues? Not with me.

You excused them when saying: "please understand that not all black girls have nappy hair, same way not all white girls have magically straight non-frizzy hair.

Weave or the type of extension come from many parts of the world, not just a few countries in Asia.
" To the idiot.

I brought that up first to Rank5 when he said he did not find the black girls attractive. I noted to him that the white girls he does find attractive these days have or want the black features he rejects here.. hence he's either a hypocrite or just has a different preference.

Subconscious self-esteem issues? Not with me.
You sure about that?

Im sorry to break it to you:

1. Black comes in many amazing shades not just very dark.
2. Blaming black women for straightening their hair is equivalent to blaming them for the effects of post colonial state of society.
3. I've worn an afro for the last few years and choose to straighten my hair a few days a go for variety (its the spice of life - or so I hear)
4. None white men fetishize Black women for what makes us exotic (so do white women) from the pronounced curves of our hips, the fullness of our lips, the plumpness of our breast, we don't have spider veins, rarely get cellulose and always age more gently.
5. Yes Black is indeed beautiful in every way.
6. Yes the effects of slavery has us at the bottom of the "what is attractive" hierarchy. But that has not stop us from showing that ample butts are indeed sexy, and large firm thighs that can surround you, blocking out all senses while you eat us out is incredibly hott.

I am a Black Woman who loves and appreciates all black women. I know my value, the worth of my warmth, care and talents. I'm over educated and can thrill in and out of the bedroom, because of my Island culture I am trained in the art of pleasing my partner and making him feel like a King. I'm confident with out being shrewd and that along with my perfect smile is what makes ME sex.

When someone says that they don't find any of the infinite types of Black Women attractive, I wonder whats gone wrong (but not for too long)

I am a proud Black Goddess

Let me know when it's 'Afro Day'!!. Wish more ebony ladies would!!

Yes. I see nothing wrong with my statement. Not ALL black females have nappy hair.
Assuming they all do is extremely ignorant.
Same way not ALL white girls have straight non-frizzy hair.

Giving someone a geographical lesson on weave is just that. A lesson.
Especially for a male.

I fail to see why this concept is in any form, a way for people to deal with self-esteem issues.

Hair is a huge commodity, but for you to associate this with an inferiority complex is quite a stretch.

Whatever happened to LIKING a hairstyle? It's a preference and it is convenient in more ways than you can possibly imagine to relate to.

Weave comes from 3+ different continents, INCLUDING Africa. Where in that statement am I excusing people? Excusing them of what exactly? Choosing a hairstyle they like? Really?

I'm not disputing what he said. He likes what he likes. With respect to the other things he spoke about, I asked for more clarification due wondering if it was more about preference and not as racially motivated as it sounded. That was where my arguments came in and for the sake of a discussion and my own curiosity.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I don't have self-esteem issues.
Seeing as though you seem to doubt that, I'd like a few reasons as to why, since you clearly feel as though you know me, despite never having the pleasure of meeting.

Please refrain from using daddy issues or touching on this industry as an argument. Those arguments get old real quick.

No. It damages your hair.

I go to a hair stylist if I want to perm/relax my natural hair.

I seldom do that though. It is better for your hair to let it grow naturally without all the unnecessary chemicals or heat.

Having my Afro in braids for a full head weave, (and oiling the scalp regularly) helps it grow and stay healthy.

I wouldn't advise a hot comb but most use one as it is less damaging than other alternatives.

If I want straight hair, I'll deep condition my roots and treat them, then I'll weave.

Simple.

I don't ruin my own hair in the process.

I get around.
All that talk of hair reminds me of an appointment I had with an SP from Naughty Nuru. While in mish I was pushing down on the pillow and accidently had caught some of the woman's hair under my hand, it pulled a bit. I mumbled "You're wearing a wig?" and she replied "NEVER touch a black woman's hair!" which made me burst out laughing.
And was a valuable sociology lesson LOL.

I think it was Rum @ Bonbons who turned me into a chocolate addict, she was incredibly sweet and sexy.

Since then have seen several other black women and they've all been great sessions. I love when an ebony woman is giving head and looks up at you, cannot get enough of that action ;)
