Not the smartest approach bud. When i've encountered someone like that flipping out on someone in retail i try to belittle them with words & make them feel like an asshole in front of everybody, sometimes they'll apologize or just walk away.Have to admit when i'm in a hurry & they fuk up my order it does piss me off,but yelling at them doesn't solve the problem.Btw watch whose coffee you knock over or "60yr old man" you decide to lay the boots to_One of my dad's good friend's is a unassuming 60+ retired marine that taught hand to hand combat for most of his life.If you tryed that with him you'd be on the ground quicker than you could blink in a pool of blood.

You didn't do the woman behind the counter any favors by spilling hot probably sugary coffee everywhere either. Since your post doesn't even mention what would have been a huge part of the story (the huge mess that probably would have been not only all over the counter and the floor, but also you clothes and his) I think it never happened and you just don't have a vivid enough Imagination to have realized what actually would have physically happened.

When he got his coffee (what he was harrassing her about) I slapped it out of his hand and told him to get the fuck out of here, which he did.

What do you think?
You will have a short life but an interesting one. You sound like someone who can relate to the movie Kickass. You took an unfortunate situation and elevated it to worse. You even made it worse for the girl because now there is an incident brought to the attention of the boss and I'm guessing you didn't offer to clean up the mess. Legally, you committed assault and a judge isn't going to dismiss the charges because you didn't like someone's attitude.

No man, I was there...it totally happened. When he swatted the coffee he made one of those Bruce Lee chirping noises. Not a yell or a grunt, but a high pitched show of pure strength and prowess. It was quite a sight to behold.

To refute you assumption regarding the mess, OP was so fast that he caught the cup in the air and twirled around like a ballerina with a jet pack - not only did he catch every drop, but he actually separated the cream and sugar and had them safely returned to their packaging. So impressive was his act of heroism that girl behind the counter actually blew him right then and there (can't confirm but I heard that it somehow managed to impregnate her), while getting a thumb's up from the manager (so no worries there either) and the 'victim' paid for the OP's breakfast.

That's right, all of this is precisely as accurate as the original post and I witnessed as much of it as the OP did.

I don't consider myself a 'Titalian' type white knight, (where you jump to the defence of any woman regardless of circumstance) but I don't like any type of bullying, especially a female. This morning at a McD's in a far away city, a customer was talking shit and bullying a girl working behind the counter. When he got his coffee (what he was harrassing her about) I slapped it out of his hand and told him to get the fuck out of here, which he did.
Wrong. If you feel the need to get involved, you should have calmly ask the customer to give the girl behind the counter some respect and suggest if he has a problem to take it up with the manager. Knocking the coffee out of his hand potentially burning him or someone else and creating a mess which I presume you left for another employee to clean up makes you as big an a**hole as him.

I had another incident in Thailand where the guy was treating his woman very badly, he was quite drunk but I put the boots to him anyway.

What do you think?
Wrong. Any time you become involved is someone else's situation using physical violence you run the risk of being charged with assault. Often that's the least of your worries. You never know if someone has a weapon or training in martial arts. All it takes is for him to get one good punch in and the next thing you know you've struck your head on the ground leaving you with a permanent brain injury, or worse. So you have to ask yourself, would that be worth getting involved?

I believe there is always a place for violence or physical confrontation, often it's the only way to get a point across.

What do you think?
I think you have anger issues. You may find the help you need here.

Sad so very sad that a person actually believes the violence is the answer to their problems. Obviously has some serious anger issues and likely a bully in school.

because most are afraid of their own shadow.
I'm not one of them.

I have a fast food drive thru experience at Wendy's that i'll never forget. Was waiting inline & could here yelling coming from the truck in front of me,some guy & girl having a spat.Next thing i see is him giving her a few vicious backhands & her screaming.I jumped out of my car & ran up to his window & gave him a few punches. It distracted him enough so the girl could get out of the truck.Only problem was it enraged him even more.Hard to wind up it that small distance,he definitely got the better of me.I tryed to put it in park & get the keys, but he stepped on the gas & dragged me through the parking lot almost running me over.Shiner, fat lip, numerous cuts & scrapes, torn shirt but i did get a free lunch & a hug from a girl i couldn't wrap my arms around!

Not sure about that, but I can say for a fact that I am utterly terrified of you. Not because of any worry regarding your fighting prowess, it's just that I have a cold sinking feeling in my gut that if I ever met you at a party, you'd corner me and enthusiastically tell me such riveting tales about yourself and I couldn't politely get away. I prefer death.

You were in the wrong and could have been charged with assault. Had you simply spoken to him about his attitude you may have been in the right. A well intentioned sentiment that was expressed in an immature, emotionally unstable, and unacceptable way.

This was not an instance that required or benefited from your aggressive, criminal behavior and I suspect you have anger management issues.
I fully agree.

The OP could've scolded that guy instead, without knocking over the coffee.

A straight forward talk with the the person, would have been my approach. No need for that type of aggressive reaction.

I wouldn't call out an angry guy who was carrying a cup of hot coffee, nor knock it out of his hand.

I'd find out what car he's driving, then follow him - wait to confront him at his destination, then slash his face with knife and pour acid into his eyes.
Then I'd handcuff him and drag him behind my car back to McDonalds, then make him apologize to the lady.

You did exactly the right thing.

Fuck the the High School Guidance Counselor posters with their politically correct finger wagging and psychobabble. They're the reason we live in a society where bullies & pricks can feel themselves 8 feet tall because they figure they'll never get confronted and have to back it up thanks to a neutered majority.

I'd have first tried to bait the guy verbally to do something first just so I could cover myself with self defense (backed up by security video) and to give me a bit of an edge of not going first now that I'm getting a little old & rusty at this stuff, but I suppose if you were a bit late in making up your mind and the opportunity to feel better by humiliating the guy was going to get away from you, well, what the hell.:thumb:

Disregard this post. fuji just automatically feels empathy for anyone who might have to incur a dry cleaning bill. To him a few stained garments and a spill on the floor is a greater damage to society than allowing some nutless dork to indulge his "inner Bieber" on a defenseless hourly slave labourer and walk away emboldened to take this attitude farther.

I'm sure I know a lot more hourly employees than fuji does and have been one myself many times. I can assure you that for somebody standing there unable to even speak up for themselves because they'll be fired and supervisors who value a lousy $2 Latte above their staff's dignity & safety - what you did was a priceless.

I guarantee you 99.9 percent of clerks would happily donate their break time to mop the entire store if need be, just for the relief of seeing that sucker lose his coffee and walk out with his tail between his legs.

If the story was true it's nice that he did step up for the worker as many other would not have but the point is he resulted in violence and opens himself up for a potential charge. Sounds like a choice that he, you and I would all make the same but it is not the best one as several people have already identified.

Actually, no. I have been in a similar situation where a guy was being aggressive and intimidating towards a woman in a coffee shop, who was apparently alone in the store and clearly afraid. I just said in a sharp tone "OK, that's enough, leave her alone".

The guy was bigger than me, probably someone with anger management issues like you, and who knows might have attacked me, but I wasn't going to let him continue terrorizing the woman working the counter. He didn't attack me though, instead was just a bit stunned to be confronted, looked at me for about twenty seconds, and then walked out yelling something at me as he left.

Your story is made up, you didn't knock coffee out of anyone's hand, spilling it all over the store and probably yourself, and if you did something like that you are a menace, a troubled, emotionally immature person with aggression, anger issues.

You are unbelievable. You ask for an opinion and when people don't agree with your stupid actions you start an arguments with the posters.
I hope I don't meet idiots like you in real life.
