WTF does ISIS have to do with this?
TegR and I, both I believe agree that a certain (I suspect high) percentage of "Western Youth" who head off to fight with ISIS are driven every bit as much by the idea of "a sex slave/forced conversion wife" or two for every fighter, as they are by Wahhabist Islam.

The last deleted post is PROOF that prostitution needs to be legalized and regulated like every other industry.
Government agencies are the only ways to keep the industry's personalities from doing whatever they please. As well as stamping out bullying clients like Mongrel.
Why would you trust the government to regulate the industry properly when they created this stupid law in the first place?

Given the recent attacks, police are asking sex trade workers to be “vigilant” in their customer screening process.
“They don’t know who they are meeting… they are very vulnerable,” Earl said.
“They need to take precautions to make sure that they are not going to make themselves victims.”

Quote from Staff Inspector Mike Earl

Maybe the Officer hasn't heard about Bill C-36 & it's prohibition on customer screening. He should be speaking to Peter MacKay about that problem. Or preferably arresting him for conspiracy to commit these crimes

The only legal customer screening post-C36 is:

"Are you proposing to be a customer?"
"Yes."
"Sorry, can't see you."

It's the Cons that are pushing their ideology down everyone's throat.
I wouldn't trust any government: cons, libs, ndp, green, purple, etc. to regulate the industry properly. They have the tendency of messing up everything they touch.

As for their lives being effectively over - too fucking bad. We're talking about rapists here, why should the perpetrators of such crimes deserve any opportunity at a successful life?
I agree with you in principle, but the fact remains that these guys will get out at some point. And would they be re-offending or contributing members of society? If the prison system just hardens them into worse criminals then the system didn't do its job IMO. I couldn't care less if they are" successful" so long as they contribute something (however small) to society.

Gentlemen this is a bit off the topic but worth mentioning, please be alerted when you say these three words, "ARE YOU ALONE?", it sends off alarm bells for the SP. Please don't ask this question if you want a good session. I never understand the motive or the nature behind the question and am left wondering if the person wants to rob me or is just wondering if we are alone. Maybe it is an innocuous question but it is soooooooooooooo damaging. It just gives me the creeps.

It's a tough call for what to do with these kids. If you stick them in prison even for a short time, their lives are effectively over i.e. good luck getting a job with a criminal record especially when they've been charged with sexual assault. If you let them rot in prison for the rest of their lives, then we're all still taking care of them.

I don't think you should hold the US prison system with such high regard. Isn't the US #1 or #2 in the world for the number of people incarcerated in the world? What a waste of human potential and dollars housing these people.
if they get off with a slap on the wrist they will be thumbing their noses at society and the justice system, not to mention they will then probably continue their life of crime as they will feel invincible from any meaningful form of justice.

That could happen if you jail them for 5 to 10 years too. Jail can harden a person so when they come out, they are even more violent. Honestly, I don't know what we can do with people like this.

Entirely agree with what you write Marla, but I suspect that some of those who e-mail this question are concerned about the very same sort of thing only with the roles reversed.
