What do you do?

A.I mean do you break and try and beg your way out of it?

B.Do you talk to your wife, apolojize and say"I'm sorry this addiction got the best of me, but at the end of the day these people may put me in prison for sex and ruin our families lives!!!

C).Do you hide it from your wife and try and deal with it yourself.

D).Do you say"Fuck these Puritanical pricks"......show me to the nearest pro bono constitutional lawyer!!!(I doubt you'll have to look far.Even if you have to pay expenses, I'd guess anonmymous donations will show up here and there.

E).Do you run?.If you can leave the country...do you?

F).If you have a shitty job and not much to lose, do you start giving interviews left and right and take a stand?Finally give a side of the story the media has never seen before.The lonely John?Someone who simply craves human connection and affection?

What do you do?

'Remain silent.' I have a feeling that most people (those who've never had any encounter with police) when faced with a situation like this for the first time, will sing like a canary - and that goes for both an SP who's questioned and/or subpoenaed to testify and johns alike.

Not mine.She's aware of this subculture already.i'm not sure what i'd do.I doubt very much i'd be some kind of shrinking violet.I find in my 40's I give less and less a shit what people think of me.My close friends already know i'm a pretty liberal cat.I'm not independently wealthy but I could make do.I think if i looked back 20 years from now I could think of worse hills i chose to die on then fighting for the right to not be told what kind of sextracurricular activity I chose to indulge in.Pimps,exploitation,marriage and underage girls aside.I don't like being told what i can do with my own body.If arrested, i know I wouldn't be shamed, and that's part of the battle right there.

I really fear that it would have a very significant negative impact on my life.

In my line of work, I usually need to get police/security checks whenever starting a new gig. And I do need to travel to the US, and would really like to do more travel around the world. And I think being arrested (not even convicted) would have a devastating impact on all of that, not to mention my personal life with my family/friends.

So I really don't think I'm going to risk it. At least until we know how things shake out.

Years ago I arrived at an S/C just after a raid. A few guys got charged and their names posted. A friend asked what my firm's customers would say. I replied that they would be more surprised not to see my name. :D

Ya, I'd have a few problems, mostly the US access. But I could easily close our US locations, fire the US staff, quit giving US pornstars US money and quit travelling and spending $$ in the US.

You are absolutely right on many points that you made. The police don't have the resources to start a "john busting" unit and most operators will be able to go about their business without seeing any problems. And, yes, they do have greater concerns.

As for it being the end of the "oldest profession". Well, that's where this law is pure genius. The lawmakers knew that they could never put an end to it, but they could make it more difficult for those who procure companionship. From the outset their aim was not to create a whole new class of criminal, the companionship consumer, but with the possible threat of being charged for being a consumer, that will make many run for cover, putting an end to a percentage of consumers in the hobby. Sort of an end run to putting an end to the oldest profession.

As far the the police go, they will probably start a C36 investigation while checking out another, unrelated matter. So there is no crystal ball of sorts in order to predict such things and the unrelated matter would be the starting point of an investigation, that with time they will see if it can be fleshed out and charges laid.
