That list won't change anything for the law. If she is really going to do this she should wait during election time. Trudeau suspended two MP for allegations of sexual harassment. What would Harper do if a number of his MP were accused of being clients of prostitutes? He couldn't really save face without suspending them.
You know what, maybe Harper found out that too many of his MPs are hobbying and had to create this law just to keep them in check.
So this law is to keep them in line, and to prosecute only the most extreme offenders of abuse and exploitation.
On Friday, November 7th, NOW paper enforced new policies: Advertisers have to sign a statement they are advertising solely for themselves, aren't advertising for anyone else,etc.
Also they are revamping there wording by eliminating price, acronyms, anything referring to sexual acts.
Pictures with stars covering the tits and ass will be cancelled and no nudity will be allowed.
Blurred faces will be unblurred and only masks will be a way to maintain anonymity. ( I don't understand the logic of this? Comments please...) I can't remember when their deadline is but they said the statements had to be signed immediately in order to maintain advertising status.
I can't imagine the hustle and bustle the classified Erotic Department must be going through to convert so many women - what is it, about 7 pages of ads, some very tiny?

I guess the logic is that the picture cannot be modified and has to be original? Still, not sure why. However, they don't ask for the picture to be of the actual provider. :happy:

If someone is arrested, is it a municipal fine or a federal offence?
If Premier Wynne follows the suit of Victoria and shuns the Bill as unsafe, will law enforcement also follow suit? Or do they arbitrarily enforce federal law. What is the chain of command in other words? Thanks

Criminal law is in the federal jurisdiction which means it governs nationally, provincially and locally (municipal). You don't need to call the RCMP to investigate a murder in the city.
Makes sense. The Terb advertising section is no different than other type of online advertising by a non-SP (eg. BP). [The wording of Section 286.4 seems broad enough to expose Terb if they don't take precautions, but the seizure or deletion of advertising material may be spared since the 'maker' is not Terb, and the custodian of the computer is offshore, however, I doubt the SP is the 'owner' of the ad].

The advertising offence targets persons who place advertisements in print media or post advertisements on websites. Publishers or website administrators could be held criminally liable as parties if they know of the existence of the advertisement and that the advertisement is in fact for the sale of sexual services. Bill C-36 would also allow the court to order the seizure of materials containing advertisements for the sale of sexual services, as well as their removal from the Internet, regardless of who posted them, which is also consistent with Bill C-36’s objective of reducing demand for prostitution.
Exactly, I believe they are allowed to show their face if the lady chooses too.

Miss Bedford has fought for the freedom, dignity, and safety of sex workers in Canada. She has joined many prominent Canadians and dedicated activists to this end. She has opposed the unjust laws affecting her profession in court, in the streets, in the Senate, in the press, and in her writings. She has even been to jail under these laws.
Miss Bedford has been an inspiration to those who work to correct society’s moral and legal hypocrisy, and to secure a human right of adult individuals to provide and buy or exchange personal services by informed consent without the state’s interference.
The event is co-sponsored by CUPE 2626 (Union of Student Workers at the University of Ottawa).

The City is concerned with the passing of Bill C-36, Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act, as research confirms that criminalization of sex workers puts people engaged in sex work at further risk of increased violence.
The passing of Bill C-36:
Undermines the health and safety of sex workers
Increases social exclusion and pushes sex workers to work in more isolated areas
What this decision means for the City going forward
Going forward, the collective focus needs to continue to be on the health and safety of sex workers and the communities that they live and work. The City remains committed to this, and in October 2014, Mayor and Council adopted Vancouver’s Healthy City Strategy, which identifies 13 goals, including:
Safety and inclusion
To promote health and well-being for all
A target to make Vancouver the safest major city in Canada by reducing crimes, including sexual assault, year-over-year
The City will continue to work in partnership with community groups and the provincial government to minimize safety risks and harms for sex workers. This includes:
Addressing all forms of exploitation and abuse
Providing opportunities for education and awareness
Enabling access to health and social service gaps
Creating transitioning opportunities for those seeking to exit
City urged the federal government to refer the proposed legislation to the Supreme Court
In submissions to the Federal Government, the City urged that the proposed legislation be referred to the Supreme Court to ensure its compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the spirit of the Bedford Decision: prioritizing the health, safety and dignity of those it’s declared to protect. The City also asked that there be consultation, which previously did not take place, with municipalities across the country on potential impacts.
In 2013 the City provided over $400,000 in grants to 11 community organizations to:
Promote sex worker health and safety
Address child and youth sexual exploitation

This scum of the earth should be incarcerated for many years, busting rocks, eating a blase diet, and only allowed to watch chick flicks and read poetry/short stories by famous female authors.
