Not exactly sure what your point is here. I agree that Ali has been unfairly treated but it hardly seems that Watson is the ying to Ali's yang. Watson has been successful and has made some statements that have made the establishment uncomfortable. This graphic doesn't seem fair to either Ali or Watson.

Fucks sakes. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is declared Islamophobic because she says gems like: "Islam is the new Facism" and "Islam is a destructive, nihilistic, cult of death."

You know what else is a destructive, nihilistic, cult of death? The American Enterprise Institute. They were George Bush's favourite think tank and were as responsible as anyone for pushing us into the clusterfuck that the Iraqi War most assuredly was. Guess where Ayaan Hirsi Ali works?

Emma Watson is a bland, inoffensive pretty girl who makes bland, inoffensive movies and says bland, inoffensive things about feminism.

Emma Watson is a cute girl and decent actress, but she would be out of her depth debating Ali.

Having gone through female semi-castration I feel so sad for Ms Ali. She's had a very harsh life and she should be paid attention to. The USA should consider itself lucky that such a brave women lives among them and she's also mostly correct. But people in high places don't like hearing the truth. Emma addressing the UN, why not Kim Kardassian?

So what are you saying Canada Man, please speak up.

Right up there with Leonardo DiCaprio on climate change.

Harsh reality is going to bite Leo in the ass, he's filming his next film at Wood Buffalo National Park. Not sure what he hoped to accomplish by challenging Harper to the Ice Bucket Challenge?

Ali has been proven to be a liar liar pants on fire, look into why she was stripped of her Dutch citizenship. She is a darling of the neo cons and cannot see that the majority of Muslims are good, decent people like anyone else. Instead of being a positive force for bridging the gap between Europeans and Muslim immigrants, she has chosen the path of being self serving, opportunist and one of little intellectual value.

But scouser1, how would you like it if some witch doctor sliced your clit off?

I support her. Yes I know there are good Muslims about but they don't the denounce terror element within their religion enough. As long as Muslim women are treated like cattle in Saudi Arabia. As long as the Saudis prohibit the practice of other religions on penalty of death. As long as the Taliban goes out of its way to murder a schoolgirl. We need Ms Ali, I would volunteer to be her body guard. I've done it before.

Allow her to own her rage. And you, read this article and be informed.

Ha ha... exactly!

These celebrity types preaching about the "carbon footprint" cracks me up! Private jets, numerous carbon wasting homes, gas guzzling limo's and extravagant yachts...

Hypocrites.

(But he does reportedly own a Prius, so I guess that makes it OK... )
Here's the thing about celebrities taking up "a cause". Whenever it happens, it becomes an item on the news and the cause is helped by the publicity generated if not by any real expertise. Of course, some stupid people are going to think "gee, I guess cause X is a valid issue because my favourite celebrity is speaking up about it". And some ever stupider people are going to say "People who judge a cause based on a celebrity are dumb. Oh, and the cause is invalid because that celebrity spokesperson is a hypocrite." Dumb and dumber.

Von, I understand that she has gone through horrors that are beyond my ken. And I realise that these horrors have informed her discourse and the positions she takes. That does NOT mean by any stretch that she is right or that I should agree with her.

Ok so this isn't just about "liberal media" for you.

I don't know where to go though with your dislike of Emma Watson. Whether she is the best UN spokesperson on anything is debatable. She does speak from a position of extreme fortune which makes anything she says seem a bit rich. But I believe she means it and I have not seen her say anything contentious or offensive. Especially not the quote you reference above in which you have completely missed her point and attribute her as bashing other young women.

She is at least saying something (as compared to other popular silver spoon in their mouth hot young celebrities of her age eg. Miley, Lindsay) and compared to some strident radical feminists is trying to do so in a rational way from the soap box she has been provided. My view though and clearly not yours so carry on.

http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2014/9/emma-watson-gender-equality-is-your-issue-too

When at 15 my girlfriends started dropping out of their sports teams because they didn’t want to appear “muscly.”

and she expect men to be less aggressive

"If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted" attacking men for their natural aggressiveness.
