Colton Orr is part of that 15....

Very doubtful that he's gonna make the team...he definitely doesn't fit in with the new direction of the Leafs (and with Dubass' analytics)...

You can expect him to be sent down....

NHL roster 23 players

Leafs in 2014/15 will go with ...
15 forwards
6 defensemen
2 goalies
$1.7M in cap space. Not true now (July 31st).

Yes, Orr included in roster of 23.
Not according to gcostanza.

Even if you send a player down it doesn't mean his salary is gone from your cap .. They got rid of that loop hole in last lock out

Sure, certain contracts cannot be went down. Those contracts would remain on NHL roster.
There are, on the other hand, players that CAN be sent down along with their contracts.

The term you are looking for is " one way contracts " or " two way contracts "

Not looking for any 'term' just pointing out a fact.
In FACT it appeared that FACT had to be pointed out to you, just to be sure you understand because you posted ...

John-Michael Liles was sent down but a portion of his contract still counted under the cap ... Those players your talking about have two way contracts ... Orr isn't on a two way contract according to cap geek .

The salary cap and collective bargaining agreement is almost the siize a Dan Brown book but it seems like removing Orr will give Leafs a lot of cap space .. How about a slew of minor injuries that may cause the big team to carry a 23 man roster ..

Colton Orr is currently apart of 23 player roster.

You appear to have both the question and answer .... no further discussion needed.

Am I missing something ?
The NHL allows a team to carry a 23 player roster .... so a slew of injuries causes a team to ... carry a 23 player roster ?

After drinking a little bit, got this thought about the Leafs yesterday.

After the arrival of Shanahan, the Leafs are like the mafia, like the god father movies.

Don Shanahan gets hired. He's the Don now.

First thing he does is wait. Then he whacks all of the bottom 6 forwards, like half the roster, then he whack all of management basically.

All that remains, is the head luteinants in the GM Nonis, and the coach Carslyle. And Shanahan personally has dinner with the team's best defenseman and captain Phaneuf, and the team's best forward Kessel, a three hour dinner, which one Toronto Sun columist observe that dinner would have been 2 hours longer than anyone of us could have endured.

The mafia, is has an hierachy and organization to it. The boss, and his crew, and so forth.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, still has that structure with the same people at the key positions, but the organization itself has been turned upside down basically by the Don, because he whacked everybody. Needless to say, after witnessing all those friends whacked, those who remain will be looking over their shoulder.

Shit, Mikey whacked his own brother on a row boat.

Shanahan is old school. Real old school.

Seems like the Toronto Maple Leafs, upper management is a Harold Ballard cloning factory.

Go Leafs Go!
Go Leafs Go!
Go Leafs Go!

Not according to Peddie.

MLSE wouldn't buy into Ken Dryden's game plan, they wanted someone who could line their pockets. Looking at Peddie's tenure from that perspective he was a smashing success. MLSE still hasn't restored the scouting to staff to what it was when Dryden was in the driver's seat, that should give you a good indication of the corporation's direction.

Leiweke leaving is a pr disaster but the seats for Leafs games will still be filled.
