My main problem isn't that this stuff happens. You get bad apples in any group.

No, my main problem is that the majority of these cops are still cops.

Exactly, and things won't change until there is accountability for them just like the rest of us. If anything, they should be held to a higher standard, but clearly they are not.

Lapel cameras will be a game changer imho.

They protect you when you cant protect yourself. Just think of them as the biggest gang. Its better to be on their side, then to stand against them. Make sense?

There are definitely bad cops out there but I am of the opinion that there are a lot more respectable police officers out there doing their best to protect the people.

I will never be afraid to call the police if I have a situation that requires their assistance.

If more people were respectful, obedient and tolerant of the police most of this stuff would not happen.

Again, there are always going to be bad apples, but most violent confrontations with police can be avoided with a little bit of co-operation and sensibility on both sides.

They have more then enough evidence to bring the Cop down. It will happen (well better)

He didnt even know what the SIU was till I informed him. I only knew from watching the news. Most criminal dont have a clue about their rights. We spent xmas like this.

I hope there is a video, otherwise I'd bet on the cop being punished with a promotion and pay hike.
I would think it is almost certain that the cop did this in a non video area. I am a strong supporter of the police, but there are too many incidents of abuse. I hope that the cultural judiciary tendency to lean heavily in favour of the police is coming into some form of balance. A few bad cops in jail would be a strong message.

They are also known to make videos conveniantly dissapear or get accidentally erased.

Lucky they found a video in that Barrie mall beating case, otherwise this pig would have walked: http://www.torontosun.com/2014/02/19/barrie-police-officer-denied-early-parole

Lots of young people will give cops attitude, and get the shit kicked out of them. What is appalling is the idiots who come and say things like, "had it coming" or "should have known better than to lip off a cop"...as if these pigs have a right to physically assaults someone who gives them lip. They feel they have the right, because they've been doing it and getting away with it forever basically. Who would have thought that social media and camera phones would be the most significant step in creating any sort of accountability for the police?

Hope your son is okay Theresa.

Years ago, I witnessed a drunk kicked a little outside my building at the time in the middle of the night by two cops. If I had a video camera or phone back then, the TPS would've been in big trouble.
