Asians and other minorities have thicker skins and are not a bunch of whiners and crybabies. Maybe that is why he did not say any other minorities.

CNN reporting the Clippers team may be owned by a family trust set up by Sterling if that turns out to be true it could be extremely difficult if not impossible to force the family to sell the team. Trusts are set up in the States to protect assets and it may allow the family to keep control of the team.

can we put your fellow white ppl into 400 years of slavery, where we tortured you with whips, hung you from a tree if you looked at the master the wrong way, had your entire family displaced, forced you to work hard labour with hardly any clothing or food, raped you, forced you to breed with other slaves so your master can sell bigger and stronger slaves for a profit?
Then years later after you were freed , you were considered half a man/woman...couldnt vote, couldnt integrate with other white women or men.. Then years after that, groups of the masters friends would drive around looking for white ppl to hang from trees or burn them alive because they thought you had too many freedoms, like education, good paying jobs and land ownership... So, you wouldnt have any historical connection with your past.. You are looked upon and discrimnated upon by the basis of your color and arent even considered hman in certain ppls minds... I wouldnt mind having some people speak up for me..

I'm just saying
Your talking 400 fuck'en years ago....let it go. If you haven't already heard theirs been tremendous strides in getting rid of racism but you and jackson, sharpton and all the other self righteous African Americans have to bring up something that happened 400 years ago...so much for moving forward!.....let it go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:deadhorse:

Nowhere have I ever said that African Americans weren't treated fairly, that they were in fact treat horribly, but I'm tired of something that happened, oh so many years ago, continually be thrown in my races face. The Jewish people bring up there race almost being wipe out by a lunatic when some idiot says that it never happen, I'm not saying that what happen to African Americans never happened.
I have never seen or heard any race bring up the past more than African Americans, that's not to say that Jewish people, Native Indians, or any other race can't complain about the way they have been treated, I just hear it more often from African Americans.

Great case in point. The golfer Fuzzy Zoeller made a off the cuff remark about what was going to be served at the Masters Championship dinner a few years ago.
Tiger Woods won the invent the year before so the dinner was to be made of what Tiger likes. Fuzzy said something to the effect of " I hope we aren't going to be served chicken or watermelon".

Now everybody nose how Fuzzy Zoeller is including Tiger, he is a funny guy who likes to make people laugh and would never say anything to hurt anybody.
Some reported got a hold of Tiger and ask him about Fuzzys comments. Instead of taking the high road and saying that's Fussy being Fuzzy, Tiger had to get on his soap box and say how hurt he was and that he didn't think Fuzzy was like that, and yet, if Rocco Mediate, who is Italian, was hosting the dinner and Fuzzy said that he hope they weren't going to eat spaghetti and meatballs, everyone would of laughed because it would of been funny. Rocco was ask about the comments and he said that he would not of been offend, that's Fuzzy being Fuzzy.

A lot of Golfers were offend by Tigers actions and Fuzzy was so hurt that he was never the same again. He couldn't believe that Tiger would be so offended, that he (Tiger) should of known that it was a joke.

Back in the late 80s Detroit Piston star Isiah Thomas made, a racial comment about Larry Bird. Bird, angrily, called a press conference to say that it wasn't a big deal and he didn't think it was racial. I wonder how Isiah and the African American community would of reacted if it was Bird taking a shot at Thomas (The comment that Thomas made about Bird was that Bird is just a average white boy and that He didn't deserve to win the League MVP award, Magic Johnson should of)

B) as a joke not racial hatred (just because your African American doesn't entitle you to LOOK for racism in every single thing that is said or done and if you think it does, then what does that say about you?)
C) not understanding

They both happened a long time ago.

They're continually brought up because anti-semitism and racial discrimination of minorities is still popular. That's what should bother you.

Wow, I must be missing something here, that or you feel left out.

Since when is it popular?, I mean, is it a sport? Do people win prizes? but most of all, SINCE WHEN DOESN'T RACISM BOTHER ME?

If you read what I wrote about that jackass in LA, I think I was pretty vocal about what he had done, that being said, I also don't like certain people that go out of there way to find racism in every, single phrase of action just so they can stand on there soap box and state how they feel.

Question, Why do we pay hundreds of dollars to go and be insulted, racially at times, by a comedian (Lisa Lampanelli comes to mind) and we think its a great but a golfer like Fuzzy Zoeller makes the same funny comment with no intent on harming anybody is racist?

PS
I also think what happen to PK Subban is disgusting and there is no room in our society for this kind of crap. Difference is he wasn't taped having a private conversation then have it released for ulterior motives.

Weather you like it or not you should be able to say what ever you want, as disgusting as it my seem, in private and not worry about it leaking for financial or other reasons.

I'm just saying.

I'm not sure if I told you my nationality, you see I'm Irish and you mean to tell me that my ancestors never seen racism in there lives? (the British come to mind) They, or myself for that matter, never heard a off colour Irish joke. In the 1900s In Britain there were signs all over the place about hiring workers but Irish need not apply.

Here is just a little taste of what my ancestors had to deal with:

Anti-Irish sentiment or Hibernophobia may refer to or include persecution, discrimination, hatred or fear of the Irish as an ethnic or national group, whether directed against Ireland in general or against Irish immigrants and their descendants in the Irish diaspora.

It is traditionally rooted in the medieval period, and is also evidenced in Irish immigration to other countries like the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Anti-Irish feeling can include both social and cultural discrimination within the island of Ireland itself, such as sectarianism or ethno-political conflicts in The Troubles of Northern Ireland.

Discrimination and racism towards Irish Travellers, an Irish minority group, is evident in both Ireland[1][2] and the United Kingdom.[3] Such racism is open and can be compared to that experienced by the Irish diaspora in the 19th century, with the hanging of signs in private establishments in Ireland stating "No Travellers" in the same style as "No Irish Need Apply".[4][5] The European Parliament Committee of Enquiry on racism and xenophobia found them to be amongst the most discriminated-against ethnic groups in Ireland.[6]

And yet you don't see us standing on a soap box or running to the nearest television cameras to vent our displeasure.

There is racism in very race it just seems to me that the African American race go out of there way to SEEK OUT racism in very comment or action despite the intention of the comment.
Some racial comments are hurtful and should be dealt with, others are meant as a joke, just that, a joke. I guess comedians get a pass.

He specifically didn't want blacks. If he said Asians or any other minority there probably wouldn't be any uproar and nothing would have happened.
If he was the owner of a franchise in a sport where 80% of the players were Asian, there would be an uproar.

The rule is simple. If you say something in private that gets aired publicly that causes damage to a business, you may find yourself in a world of hurt, even if you're a billionaire.

It wasn't 400 years ago. The duration of legal slavery lasted 400 years. Slavery ended in 1863, which is not 400 years ago. Legal racial discrimination ended in the mid 1960s, which is 50 years ago. Maybe you were alive at that time.

Regardless, what does it matter when slavery existed or not? If a man does damage to a business by making grossly inappropriate comments, he gets the boot. If the President of McDonalds was on tape in private saying McDonald's burgers taste like crap, you can be sure he would get fired. Business is about products, services, and image/brand.

Do you really think that the NBA should keep Sterling as owner? What would the moral of the story be? You can say anything in private and have it aired publicly and it's ok? I can burn crosses while wearing a white sheet in my backyard, pronounce my love of Nazism and witchcraft, and if a video of it surfaces, people should just throw up their arms and say "it's ok, it was meant to be private"? I would lose credibility and if I owned a business, it would lose credibility especially if my business represented values diametrically opposed to Nazism and witchcraft. If a man or woman in charge of running the Special Olympics was caught on tape saying he/she is disgusted by all the retarded athletes he/she oversees, you don't think that is a problem?

Look, it evens happens in politics. Think Rob Ford.

Sterling has been embroiled in charges of discrimination in his other businesses for decades. The NBA didn't seem to have a problem with it since there was no evidence of unflattering words or behavior directed at the NBA or its players. He should consider himself fortunate that he was able to be a franchise owner for so long. And financially speaking, he is in a win-win situation no matter what happens to his ownership.

I believe Sterling should only be forced out through proper channels. If the NBA constitution allows for it, then they must proceed that way. Otherwise it's up to individuals (players and customers) to no longer support the team, making it lose money and go belly-up.

Just heard his former GF on CP 24 say Sterling is NOT a racist.

Query: Has the bar for being brand a racist now been lowered to asking your black GF in a private conversation to not bring blacks to NBA games? How many of you brought black people to an NBA game?

He doesn't have to be a racist to take heat for his comments, and calls for firing. The man is obviously confused and frustrated, which is not uncommon. We don't choose who we are sexually attracted to. Our bodies decide that. Just ask the KKK leader who was caught with a black male prostitute http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/04/kkk-leader-caught-with-a-black-male-prostitute.html

He is a business owner that has damaged the reputation and image of his business. He needs to leave.

Before your star typing anything you should know what the hell your talking about.
Let me help you. GO TO THE VERY FIRST STATEMENT I WROTE IN REGARDS TO STERLING it shouldn't be hard....it's the very first thread....I know because I STARTED IT.
In fact you should go and read EVERYTHING THAT I WROTE IN REGARDS TO THIS THREAD and you may just find out where I stand on the Sterling issue.

In regards to 400 years of slavery, I was quoting Carling, If it is wrong then I apologize. I do know that it was Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves.....a white gentleman I might add.

Adding random "facts" surrounded by privileged gibberish (first the Fuzzy Zoeller idiocy, then putting the Irish, and in particular, "travellers" Wikipedia entry was gold) into this particular discussion about sports business cum race relations in the US just shows how out of touch you are.

Black people and First Nations don't have to "just get over it" any more than Jews do the Holocaust, etc., until there is a time where all land claims are settled, reparation is made and we have a society where one ethnicity (privileged white folks) does not hold a disproportionate amount of power, money and influence over others because of recent past horrifically underhanded, if not outright evil dealings.

And for the love of God, please don't ever bring up Fuzzy Zoeller (even if Tiger should have handled it better, Fuzz was dead wrong + ignorant) and the Irish (you obviously know NOTHING about it - try spending meaningful time there or reading a non-Wikipedia source) to make your non-points again. You're embarrassing yourself.

It's one thing to plead ignorance, it's another to open your mouth a prove it or in your case type it!

My birth place, SHANNON IRELAND and if want to know what the Irish went through I suggest that you read and keep on reading. As for Fuzzy, if you think he was out of line for a comical off the cuff remark then my I suggest one last thing, get off your self righteous high horse and get a since of humor. That's the problem with this society we can't laugh at each other with out some racial BS.

LOL. If you're gonna state facts, then know your facts in context. The only reason Lincoln "freed the slaves" was to destablize the South (if you want, read the transcripts of his campaign and you'll see he was not wholly against slavery). He also invited he freed slave to fight for the North; effectively strengthening his army).
