TB, I employ you to please please reconsider using your CPAP nightly. Like you, I found it an annoyance and would stop using it after the first 2 weeks. Eventually the nightly stop breathing caused me to have a mild heart attack. It turns out that the stop breathing deprive your body of oxygen and that in turn puts a huge strain on the heart. Somehow this important fact was not in the CPAP documents. Now I try using my CPAP each night but occationally the TV is watching me throughout the night.got one last year after a sleep test confirms that i stop breathing too many times during my sleep...
the sleep specialist reported me to the authorities because i drive...i guess i'm supposed to wear it but NEVER do...
i found that it made my sleep worse. did a questionaire to see how if i fall asleep throughout my day..NO! I'M THE MOST AWAKE PERSON I KNOW! ALL THE TIME! I AM NEVER TIRED!!!
Wore the machine a few times and that's it...
Make sure you get the one that stops forcing air down your throat whenever you exhale, or you may find it very hard to breathe. That type costs more, however. My co-worker gave me the warning before hand. THANK GOODNESS! My setting is pretty high. It would have been terrible if I didn't have the one that lets me exhale without difficulty...too bad i don't wear it.
Actually, your post has reminded me to break mine out and blown the dust off...
G'luck
I have had the Resaid machine for about 3 years and would recommend it. I have mild apnea but it helps me sleep through the night without waking for the most part. Obviously snoring is eliminated which is an SO benefit. Started with the nostrils only mask but found it got dislodged as I tossed and turned, much better with the mask. Overall if you have been diagnosed would say you are crazy if you don't give it a good try, the first week or two are a challenge but if you get through that all goodAnyone using one, and if so do you have any recommendations machine
they are all portable but as far as i know they all have to be plugged inYou guys have been a big help. I would just about sell my sole for a good nights sleep. Ill admit I was skeptical about getting the machine but I think Ill go ahead with it. I need one that is fairly portable as I practically live on a boat all summer. I wonder how a lady friend would react to watching me hook up to a machine after a evening of passion. Well its probably better than keeping her up with my snoring all night. Thanks for your help.:thumb:
I know how you feel I did the same thing. For over a year I chose not to wear it but it made me feel worse. I was nodding off during the day and even while driving. I knew I had to get back to using it or risk potential death. Consult your physician and inquire as to whether you qualify for an APAP machine. They are better than a CPAP because its not continuous airflow. The machines are around $1500 but OHIP covers 70% if you qualify. Also invest in a good mask that is comfortable. They also need to be changed every 6-9 months. Good luck.got one last year after a sleep test confirms that i stop breathing too many times during my sleep...
