But if people in the state decide they want the state to buy them affordable health care like we have up here, then its the state's business.
Just read an interesting article, which I won't link because you won't read it, that argued that you can't have a democracy if the two parties can be bought by big business/1%/rich folk.
Discuss.
But what if the people change their mind and decide we do not want the state to provide that service anymore, such as ... say ... garbage collection. Types like yourself will ...
Democracy, as I understand it in the western world, principle point is one person one vote. After that, then that is in dispute.
In a place like China, democracy means people have enough to eat, they have economic opportunity, that they have low taxes. No vote though.
My guess that your vision of democracy and your friends, is keep the vote but distribute the wealth via taxes in order to eliminate poverty.
The main problem there is that you fail to appreciate that the west while having the vote, also has the rule of law, especially in the area of property rights.
I think the state can ask for some private wealth, but no way it has any right to private wealth.
What is mine is mine. That is universal in all cultures and human history. We do not need a charter of rights to understand that.
But you guys think what is mine is really yours (after we win the election and screw you with taxes).
Uphold property rights. Not only the rich buy into this, the middle class even more so. Even the majority of people running for mayor in this city.
