What are your Memories of Montreal? I remember EXPO 67, Captain Kirk was on TV. The future was in front of us.
Steinberg's , Belmont Park , Les Expos ................................................long gone, and do not forget Pascals and the Allouettes. Also long gone. Not sure if the West Island counts. If it does then :
Bar-B-Barn , Chenoy's , Sir Winston's , Steinberg's , Belmont Park , Les Expos ... I could go on.
I have grown to appreciate and love Toronto but I feel blessed to have grown up in Montreal.
Funny, I was just thinking about Pascals the other day. My local Loblaws was originally a Steinbergs. Chenoy's in Pointe Claire was awesome; many drunken nights on Crescent at Sir Winstons and Thursdays. Not sure if the West Island counts. If it does then :
Bar-B-Barn , Chenoy's , Sir Winston's , Steinberg's , Belmont Park , Les Expos ... I could go on.....
If you lived near Park and Mount Royal Avenue, in the early 70s there is a good chance you are Portuguese. Back then the old houses were going for about $10,000. Now they go for $5-6-700,000. Starting in the early 80s that area and the plateau got very popular.OH yes good old Montreal. I left there in 1972 to work here. I grew up near Mount Royal area Park and Pine not TMR . I / we used to hang out on St.Catherin st at the Venice De Milo room near Cresent st.. Bens and swartizes deli...Great food and beautiful woman...
Ben's deli closed down about 10 years ago to make way for a high rise.Randomly as they come to mind:
Restaurants: Gibby's, Moishe's, Snowdon Deli, Pumpernik's, St. Hubert, Mr. Steer, Ben Ash.
When was the last time you were there?I think that the culmination of Anglo Montreal, its culture and standing was in 1977 at the Big O when Marv Levy's Alouettes won the Grey Cup. After that, with the PQ taking power, it started going downhill from there.
Last week. When was the last time you were there?
Not to get off topic but your point about the PQ is dead on. After several years of a federalist government, the BS is starting again:I think that the culmination of Anglo Montreal, its culture and standing was in 1977 at the Big O when Marv Levy's Alouettes won the Grey Cup. Because your comment is so dated. I don't know what part of Montreal you frequent, but I certainly don't have the same opinion as you. It has definitely changed, but that a good thing, yet not downhill.Last week.
Why do you ask?
It may be only 10 minutes from Parliament Hill, but it is in Quebec. The law is pretty clear, even though it was built when Facebook was a dream at the time. It's an 'english only' that is in question. The law has also been taken on in court to this point and the consensus has been it applies. Not to get off topic but your point about the PQ is dead on. Pretty sad when a business 10 minutes north of Parilment Hill cannot have an english facebook page.
