Hi everyone. Given the news about the vote in the EU Parliament adopting the "Nordic model" with respect to prostitution (there is a question though as to whether or not any such resolutions will carry any legal weight in individual member countries whose own laws contradict the "Nordic model" -- I'm specifically thinking of countries like Germany or the Netherlands) and Canada's own debate regarding its prostitution laws, here's a question I would like to pose to all of you.

What is the best country in the world to be a sex worker or SP? By best country, I'm applying the following criteria:

(1) Prostitution is legal or decriminalized

(2) The rights of sex workers/SPs are respected (this would include no legal or police harrassment of sex workers/SPs)

(3) Clients of sex workers/SPs do not face legal harrassment or arrest.

In other words, the type of country that sex workers in Canada are fighting to bring out -- what is the country that best exemplifies this?

You 'Bump'd the thread after 13 minutes?

Ladies & gentlemen, I think that's a new world record!
Yes, that was a little premature of me, but I wanted to draw the TERB community's attention to the question I posed.

And Art Mann, I haven't been a "kid" for a LONG time!! ;)

Probably Vatican City. Most of the time, they'd just need to talk about what they did the previous night, while Monsignor adjusts his robes.

New Zealand, as mentioned, or one of the continental Germanic countries: Switzerland, Germany.
I wonder how the vote in the EU parliament to adopt the "Nordic model" (i.e. arrest the johns) will affect the legal status of prostitution in Germany, given that Germany is one of the key members of the EU. (Switzerland is not an EU member so presumably they would not be affected by whatever decision is made in the EU).

Singapore. There's a long standing recognition of prostitution, so it's kept to a certain area (Geylang) where the girls are required to get regular medical checkups. Police harassment of the girls are unheard of and clients do not face any harassement either.

Geylang has grown organically off the area's "attraction" and now boasts some of the city's best eateries as a result. It's quite the carnival on weekends.

I have read about the Geylang district in Singapore and it always surprises me that such a district still exists given the country's puritanical and censorious reputation, where (male) homosexuality is illegal (although rarely enforced) and pornography is strictly prohibited.

unsure if legalization is better actually

The providers would have to pay taxes, need permits, lots of rules to follow, inspections, etc . Also, if it is legal you are more likely to be outed as everything is in the open, I would think

Toronto must be a great place as it is I would think as you are pretty much left alone if you are discreet

If you do not want to be a SP u can work at a MP

if you do not want to give HJ u can work at a SC

if u do not want to strip u can be a waitress at a SC

Lots of $$$$$$$$$$ to be had for a woman who is willing to work hard while staying in her comfort zone if she stays off the cocaine
