Russian dashcam videos, some of these are crazy.
Which when coupled with insurance fraud explains why practically every Russian car has a dashcam.

Some of those you wonder if people or animals weren't killed.

As a generalization Russians speed and are very aggressive drivers, or at least a vastly greater percentage of them then in Canada, the U.S. or the U.K.

Trust me! Just a few months experience on the russian highways and you'll become a really good driver. :)
True or dead.

Also you will be far safer if when crossing the street in Russia you act as though that car down the street will receive bonus points if it hits me, rather than, of course they can see me and will slow down.

Can't believe the near-misses in this vid, people walking away, pedestrians bouncing up, dogs surviving, people hanging out of their windshield. I admit - I yelled out loud when i watched.
I have seen many other vids where people for sure have died. Do you think these are probably only a select few accidents, whereas the majority are much worse?

I did as well. Some of those accidents were vicious.

Just imagine what we would see if every vehicle in Canada and the US had a dashcam.

You take your life in your hand there when driving / walking.

I don't know how many people have insurance over there. If your not "connected" you could be in for a rough ride. I think that is the reason for the cameras.

My wife crapped her pants when she was over there in the summer, she said it was like the wild west.

That's wild! Glad the people and dog seemed to walk away untouched, but they seemed invincible. Just the wrong message for some newbie driver.

^ The first set are far more horrific. This second set are an excellent illustration, however, of why foreigners just plain shouldn't drive in Russia. Also the very first episode is pretty clear DUI/OUI/DWI.

I always thought asian drivers were the worst. Looks like this has changed.

Some scary stuff there, but two things stand out:
1 - the high proportion of incidents caused by supposed professional drivers (bus, transport truck etc.) who should be held to a higher standard of driving.
2 - the way people just walk/drive away when pedestrians are involved. Perhaps it is socially acceptable in Russia for pedestrians to be flying through the air.

DUI is hardly surprising, many years ago stayed in Moscow for a one night layover when heading further east. The manager of the hotel was waiting to greet our party in the lobby with a large tray of vodka, suffice to say no one made it to their rooms sober.
