Beat me to it. Dante's is THE best pizza. Bar none. Go ahead and close the thread. Done.
I would have to go with Dante's too, despite the fact your broke after ordering from that fucking place.

One place that was right up there with Dante's was a place at willowdale and sheppard called piasano's, but they changed the pepperoni and it's just not the same. :(

so right now we have the best burger thread going, the best pizza thread going, I'm going to guess it's only a matter of time before the best chicken wing thread starts.

I like Vesuvio but I don't know why they won all the awards. The pizza is good but not THAT good. Wize Guys is pretty good too! Much better than the standard chain fare. Just for shits and giggles since wings were mentioned just above, the Sweet Thai Chilli wings at Real Sports have to be the best hands down ;-)

Completely agree with that assessment. Vesuvio is in my "hood", but it is ok at best.

Hard to find good pizza in Toronto. When I grew up in Hamilton, Pee Wee's was the best pizza you'd ever find. Either that, or "the Attic" in Stoney Creek, or Visca's down on Barton by the Centre Mall. (I know Pee Wee's is gone, don't know about the other 2)

For some reason (maybe because I'm not a kid anymore) I've never been able to find Pizza in Toronto as good as the stuff I grew up with in the Hammer.

Also, I'm not really into all the exotic toppings. I tend to just prefer the stuff I have always had on a pizza since I was a kid. My friend who makes his own great pizza says the same thing. He'll have a huge party at his place and make all kinds of different pizzas with the exotic toppings and everyone raves about how creative the toppings are, but what he noticed is that people (guys especially) will oooh and awww about how great the exotic pizza toppings are, but after a slice or two of the exotic stuff, they switch back to peperoni and mushrooms and bacon almost always.

I'm the same way.

You can keep all your bullshit exotic toppings at Queen Margherita and Libreto. I just like peperoni, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, pineapple - the stuff I always had as a kid.

I found it just ok. Maybe they had an off night but at the price they charge I was unwilling to try it again. I liked Wize Guyz much better.

Yeah it's a questioin without an answer.

I'll tell ya what the worst is, though - the ubiquitous PizzaPizza.
We ordered some in at work a couple of weeks ago and it was minimal amount of bland sauce, over-salty thin layer of cheese and cardboard-stiff tasteless crust. I don't understand how they got to be so big selling that crap.
I'm with you on that one Matt, can't swallow the shitty Pizza Pizza.
Of the chains Pizza Nova is the best in my opinion. Fresh ingredients, decent sauce and they generally cook it properly.
I'm more of a fan of Chicago style deep dish pizza and these guys do a great rendition. Quite expensive however.

Back in the day Vesuvio was one of the top pizza places in the city. They just didn't evolve to meet the new standards being set by the competition. Today they are just an average overpriced pizza establishment. I agree with JTK's assessment.

In the far east end of Scarborough there is Fratelli Village Pizzaria on old Kingston rd, they use a stone oven and make thin crust pizzas.

There used to be a Panzerotto Pizza at Yonge and something, a few blocks north of Yonge and Dundas. Their pizza wasn't fantastic, but their baked or fried (or dual'ed) Panzo's were amazing.
The last time I was by there they were closed however..

You all have me craving some italian delights now!!!

Thin crust ------Vesuvio's on Dundas, west of Keele.

Great option, especially for Take Out, but for thin crust might as well go nearby Jane & Annette: Queen Margherita Pizza :thumb:

• 900° wood fired pizza oven, made in Naples
• Caputo Tipo 00 flour, imported from Italy
• San Marzano DOP tomatoes, imported from Italy
• Fior di latte mozzarella made in Ontario exclusively for Queen Margherita Pizza
• Hand tossed artisanal pizza made by trained pizzaioli

I personally enjoy Pizzeria Libretto near Ossington and Dundas the most.
Also Famoso is pretty good in the Annex.
I think a good bang for you buck is Big Slice Pizza at Gerrard and Yonge. 4 bucks for a massive slice.

Actually, Mothers went bust a long long time ago, but recently a couple of guys in Hamilton (no relation to the original owners) brought them back.

Hope it works out for them.
