Guys who like variety will prefer agencies in Durham. Agencies will not set up in Durham because most are not smart enough to have a good incall set that does not get busted in a matter of months, and guys are not willing to pay the rates required to keep an agencies going.
Agencies need to cover a certain overhead that is a lot higher then an indies overhead. But the owners {a good owner} gets 30-40% of what an indies does. So what happens is the volume quota for the incall needs to go up, which draws traffic issues and the place get busted. Or the rate has be a bit more, but then you get guys bitching it is not "Durham Rates"
I have said before that guys want TO style agencies but are not willing to put up the green. I am not surprised by the state in Durham and I don't see it getting better. It is great for INdies and the guys who like them, but for the rest, you are mostly SOL.

The rate should be what the market can bear and in Durham, you are not running girls out of places, like they do in Toronto, that are considerably nicer and cost more to secure and keep the location. That being said, rent is an issue that needs to be addressed as do the amenities that it takes in order to run a successful operation.
The issue of being busted is another kettle of fish entirely. While a 1 bedroom establishment may not be as profitable, for the girls and owner, it is a more low key operation. To maximize your situation, you need at least 2 rooms, to cut overhead, but you increase foot traffic drawing attention to yourself. In order to negate this, you need to be in a bigger building, a quad style is not so good, but a long hallway building. You also should be ready at the buzzer, when you have given the buzzer code and be at the door, so the guy isn't hanging in the hallway at all. This draws the attention of the neighbours if they see this on a daily basis.
That being said, it's always easy to be an armchair quarterback.
That really makes no sense. Paying more means a place is less likely to get busted??? Ok.. You are forgetting not having as much competition as Toronto can command a higher price, which by your logic should reduce volume and make it less likely to get busted.
Lets get this right, price is set by quality and more than a few incalls didn't have reason to charge a premium rate.
I would consider Secret Rendevous as run by someone smarter than average, and run well. We know how that ended... I think there is just a plain old getting busted problem in Durham. Forget traffic, you really think Durham 5-0 can't use a computer?

That is not what I said. You miss understand. A reputable agency has HIGHER overhead. That creates the need to have a higher quota. Sorry if I didn't explain that better.
SR was run very well and the person was indeed smarter then average. That is why they were so successful and one of the only agencies not busted by LE. So I don't know if you have cross info. The owner closed up on her own and moved on to much better things for her personally. However it did leave a huge void in Durham that I don't see being filled anytime soon. That part I fell bad about for the hobbyists in Durham

Well in that case, have it. Buy the place down the street and open up a incall. See what happens. Be my guest. It really is no sweat off my ass.
To be honest, I've really given it some thought. I don't only because my family and children wouldn't approve. It wouldn't be a wise career move in my field either. Legally though until the SC makes a ruling, I don't believe there would be a legal issue beyond zoning. It would still need to be kept low key. Public condemnation could become an issue. An amendment to a municipal bylaw could cause a problem due to public outcry.
As far as the police go and being convicted in an Ontario Court? If you're not exploiting anyone or breaking any drug or underage laws... How can the police enforce a law that doesn't exist in the Province?
To me common sense would say lease an out of the way place. Keep it respectable and make it nice. It would be a pretty small investment when you look at the cash flow you would generate compared to a Restaurant or other type of business. A few quality girls. Treat them like gold. Your customers too.
Fuck even at Durham prices everyone would make a killing. Register your business. Pay your taxes. A good accountant and you'll pay fuck all. It's a cash based business. If the SC upholds the ruling... You're set. Set up like PA did. Nobody's shut them down? They're in an industrial area.
If the police harass you. Know the law. If the SC rules against you. Declare the business bankrupt and liquidate.
Or just rent an out of the way house with no neighbours. Do the same thing. That would cost fuck all for startup. If you had 3 or 4 girls working you could have the rent and utilities payed in a week easy at 25%. As long as you had quality girls and return customers. The next 3 weeks would be profit.
