Anybody who thinks you can pick one champion from the right and all other RW votes transfer to them is sadly very naive about how political support works.
Anybody who thinks Chow is going to pick up the support of Ford Nation because she's "anti-establishment" has gone well beyond "very naive."

Next, you're going to predict the Toronto Sun will endorse Chow.

I study this stuff for a living. There are votes in western Canada that regularly swung between the NDP and Preston Mannings Reform Party, same in many jurisdictions. You drop Ford from the present lineup, every candidate will go up including Chow.

So did you predict both Miller and Ford would come from behind and win?

Yes and I predicted Millar when he was at 10% also sadly Ford. Smithereens was a weak candidate. BTW, Millar could have defeated Ford.

Every candidate has huge liabilities.

Ford: Obvious

Tory, patrician, upper class, no appeal to blue collar elements of Ford Nation who will probably stay home if Ford is out.

Soknacki WTF is he doing in there, wants a price to drop?

Stintz: probably best hope for RW can't speak in public, Do something with that hair FFS. Some women RW voters.

Chow: Strong base but also constrained by NDP. Can tap into 250 000 Chinese voters. NDP has 300 000 voters. Appeals to women, left Liberals, Ralph Lean Warren Kinsella on board.

Here is the poll in June before the crack video when Ford thought he was home free - Ford vs Chow. Notice the 53% prepared to vote for Chow? Anybody who thinks she is restricted to 36% and it is a simple matter of picking one right wing champion to go against Chow and consolodate some right wing vote that simply aggregates has another think coming.

And I'll say it again. Based on no platform, no questions asked and answered, no background scrutiny like what happens in the mayor's race.

What will she say to garbage privatisation? To subways? To union contracts? To new revenue tools? On and on and no answers yet because she hasn't declared. Will she quit Parliment to run? (Actually I'm not sure if she has to or not). So many things.

Polls at this stage are about as useful as tea leaves........

Standard defence of those who are way behind. You think we don't see through that?

There are still 3 minutes left the Argos can still win!!!! LOL.

Um.....this isn't a "defense". This is an objective view of the election process. I haven't stated a preference for any of the potential candidates. This is pointing out the a year is a long time and there is no updated information about several of the those who may stand for election. Please note I included all the candidates. They may say something stupid (John Tory come on down) and ruin their chances. So could Stintz. So could Chow.
Reliance on polls a year away before some of the candidates are even in the race? That's closer to desperation on your part for Chow than anything else.
Honestly if Chow states she supports subways, continued garbage privatisation and keeping the unions in check she could have my vote. I vote on issues. Not just the candidate. When they declare their intentions I'll judge.

And I didn't watch the game......

We know by now you are a rightwinger because all of your policy choices for Chow are rightwing and wrong choices for the city. You are anything but objective.

Wow....I've also stated my preference for raising taxes as long as it is spent on infrastucture that has been neglected the last several years. Never have said I want reductions in the property tax. I stated my preference in fact for a 2% hospitality tax in all hotel rooms and perhaps even all restaurant bills instead of the Vehicle tax. I don't hav e an issue with spending money to run the city. I have a problem when it is spent irresponsibly.

I've read your rants on income redishtribution. You actually have the audacity to claim some sort of objective high moral ground? Wow!

And you're a NDPer...hardly objective yourself.
Not really a Dipper. On a scale of 10, O being total assholes and 10 being the 2nd coming of Christ, I award the Tories with 0, the Liberals with a 2/10 and the NDP with maybe a 5/10. Lots of room to improve.

Yup. If you consider the NDP to be centrist according to your scale that places you where? Big socialist or outright communist?

Not very well.

Ford's support is about 30 points lower than where it was on election day in 2010, and there's no indication that Chow has picked up any of that support.

Furthermore, your assertion that Chow will be able to position herself as an "anti-establishment" candidate is absurd.
