If you look at outlander's link, you see FBI stats show a higher violent crime rate in the southern states. The same states with more liberal gun laws.

And actually, the crime RATE in Chicago and New York are less than, say, Flint, MI, once you take into account the size of their respective populations.
How is Flint Michigan a southern state? Why compare it to Chicago. And southern states - like Alabama - have more blacks, and more poor people. That also contributes to statistics.

If guns cause violent crime, why is the crime rate so low in Switzerland, a country that has a very high number of guns per person?

The police can only respond to a victim, they cant protect anybody from a crime.

If you ignore the US and look at gun crime in other countries there is almost no relationship between gun crime and gun policy. It becomes very evident that the driving force for crime is poverty.

The US south is poorer than the north a well.

I think what makes crime in the US so high has nothing to do with gun policy but the other thing that makes the US exceptional among developed nations: slavery.

No other developed nation has such a large number of people who were so thoroughly persecuted for so long.

Heard that South Africa has a very high gun ownership rate and murder rate. In fact a no legs runner actually shot and killed what he said was a burglar in his bathroom.

IMO, another factor is that primarily in the US is there an unrealistic expectation to 'get rich quick', reinforced by the corporate media that wants you to buy their crap

combined with 'revolving-door justice'

Its the same pathetic argument from people like you.

Why don't you look at the facts for once and use your brain.

What is your suggestion in this situation? More laws? Chicago already has some of the toughest gun control laws in the states and they're one of the most dangerous places.

BTW the way i see it you can do what the left is doing and try to reason with crazy people or try to make more ridiculous laws that didn't stop anything in the first place or you can carry tools to protect yourself. Now think about what you'd want if a crazy fuck walked into your office/park/movie theater...a) a gun ban b)stricter laws c) magazine limit law d)another useless law e) a firearm to protect yourself
Suggest you buy the Sun today which just happens to provide stats for murders in the US in 2012 by state and by type of weapon. Perhaps if you had a few facts you would develop more informed opinions and not be stuck spouting the same old tired propoganda that the NRA has spoon fed you.

A key fact to look for is whether all crime is higher or only gun crime.

Gun policy cannot possibly explain changes in, say, burglary, or assaults without a weapon. So if those things are also higher you are looking at some sort of general crime problem unrelated to gun policy.
