I suppose I'm in the same camp as the man in the video posted by Insidious which I saw after my last post. If it takes another three weeks to get a clearer picture then I think they should wait.

Yeah the Danes and Scandinavians in general have sure proved expert over the centuries at that singing Kumbaya stuff.
In my view, the real War Crime and illegal act was gassing civilian women and children to death during their own war. If civiized/Western nations do nothing but talk about what should be done rather than doing what needs to be done then the world is more dangerous one for all of us. Sincerely, Jon .
Unleasing the dogs of war is not the solution. War is what will create a more dangerous world. We need to resolve issues through non-violent means.
Watching CTV NEWS tonight, I see only global demonstrations opposing U.S. intervention. There are few if any demonstrations opposing Assad.
Obama is all talk no action. Now it looks like congress and senate will likely NOT support him.
Sometimes the best action is no action. Hope the President finds the courage to step back from the brink. It is no disgrace.
This is THEIR country. It is THEIR civil war. Assad is THEIR dictator. Only THEY can resolve THEIR war.
If it means not starting WW3, I'll be perfectly happy with Obama being "all talk no action"

The problem is what to do about him.
Without a clear objective, what is military action going to achieve? Is the goal to remove him from power? Who will take over?
If there were a way to give him the boot and install moderate rebels I would be completely boosting the effort, but I haven't seen anyone say they are willing and able to do that.
I think we should be putting together a UN stabilization force, Kosovo style, to go in and start creating safe havens. Only this time with enough military muscle to ensure we don't have another Srebrenica.
The problem is also that large segments of the opposition are themselves less than pleasant.

If the International community was going to intervene they should have done it last fall. Too much time has passed with the radical wing of the resistance growing stronger. If Assad is toppled what then - a repeat of events that occurred in Afghanistan after the Soviets withdrew? When the moment is right you seize it, the moment for intervention in Syria has passed. That's why Normandy was a success and Gallipoli wasn't.

The only chance that intervention would succeed is if Israel invades South Lebanon, and even then the probability would be < 50/50. Christians make up 10% of Syria's population, they support the Assad regime. They know that pogroms are a certainty if he falls.

Although a pogrom normally is used to describe a massacre of jews by christians.
So Russia comes up with a brilliant idea this morning to avoid a military strike in Syria, they recommended that Syria puts all of their chemical weapons under international control and Syria agreed to it. The Obama administration is basically saying we'll take a hard look into it, but it's too late, we've made up our minds and we will act on behalf of our ally Saudi Arabia, Al Qaeda, and the Muslim Brotherhood and bomb Assad.
It's times like this when you know Obama has ulterior motives for attacking Syria other than "punishing them for using chemical weapons to avoid having them use chemical weapons in the future."

If he does attack and WW3 breaks out, he should give back that Nobel peace prize
