If you think press conferences in Ottawa, Washington or London are masterpieces of obfuscation you should listen to the press conference Martin Nesirky the spokesman for the U.N. Secretary General is holding.
While I entirely agree with you, good luck with that. Nancy Pelosi is a Hawk on this one.If the Obama Administration strikes Syria without UN resolution (which is impossible since Russia is on the Security Council) then all the Democrats who ripped Bush for going into Iraq better rip Obama for this one.
It would be one of the worst mistakes of Obama's presidency. If the Obama Administration strikes Syria without UN resolution (which is impossible since Russia is on the Security Council) then all the Democrats who ripped Bush for going into Iraq better rip Obama for this one.
It is certainly an interest, and one that would imply western boots on the ground are not an entirely bad idea. Though it is fraught with peril.Like I said before fuji.
Some of your comments are brilliant, some asinine and this falls into the later category. Al Qaeda is taking over the resistance movement and at the same time destabilizing Iraq. So which horse does Obama back; Al Quada or Hezbollah?
Either way it's snake eyes for the President.
Are you now one of yolo's acolytes?Polls are saying that the people of the US don't want a war with Syria.
Too bad they don't have democratic representation any more, Obama doesn't represent the will of his people.
I doubt it. Israel doesn't want either side victorious (unless the small weak democratic, rights supporting movement counts). In fact I'm sure that many there would rather keep Assad because he at least kept the advanced weapons under central control and was not willing to risk his own neck to launch an attack which jihadist groups would be willing to do.The pressure is coming from Israel. They want the US to fight another war on their behalf. It's sickening but the American government tends to cave in their favor.
Many will. There are a hella lot of Democrats who have become more, errr, tepid in their support of Obama - and particularly because of his foreign policy and domestic security/spying support. Everything else (failure to move on many reforms and promises) can and should be laid at the feet of congress and the hold-breath-til-they-turn-blue G.O.P. But there is some downright ugly shit that he owns, and he owns outright. If the Obama Administration strikes Syria without UN resolution (which is impossible since Russia is on the Security Council) then all the Democrats who ripped Bush for going into Iraq better rip Obama for this one.

That's an assessment.
The evidence so far appears convincing enough for me. Whatever chemical agent that was used to gas civilians and children is, to use your word, a moot point. It seems clear that women and children were gassed to death with something. I agree that engaging in military operations without a clear plan, objective and goal is immoral and weak. We can see now that President Obama is stalling..... I was expecting to see a News Flash on CNN that a U.S. warship has just launched an attack on Syrian targets what with all the news of an 'imminent strike' against Syria, but I guess not. I'm reasonably certain that Bashar al- Assad won't be turning himself in anytime in the near future. Sincerely, Jon .The so called evidence right now is American manufactured bullshit for all intents and purposes.
It's best to wait and see what the lab results from the Hague determine. If it is determined chem was used, then Assad must be formally asked to turn himself and his regime in or face an attack that will remove him and the regime.
Simply jumping in and bombing with no objective is immoral, weak, pathetic even and completely inflammatory to the M.E.
Great powers often turn into bullies with the agenda of self preservation at the expense of your life. For all we know the US has some new plane they need to test out.
Doubtless you know the expression - you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. I think it apropos. Not until you stop channeling acutus/SincerelyJon*
It is bad enough to mention it, really stupid to let on to the entire world how you might have acquired it.That's an assessment.
US intelligence mentioned phone calls that were intercepted.
They should release that info
USA tapped their phones. It is bad enough to mention it, really stupid to let on to the entire world how you might have acquired it.
