If you are in Scarborough go up and down Kennedy Road between Ellesmere and Lawerence (maybe a few from 401 to Ellesmere) there are quite few computer shops. Future Shop, Computer Canada (or Computer World can't remember exact name) and a several independent owned.

Laptopcloseout has some good brands, Lenovo/IBM Thinkpads, HP, Asus etc.

If you have to go over $300 you can actually get a new brand one for an extra $100 to $200 on sale at the big box stores.

wouldn't a strip club be the best place to get a used laptop?

I have purchased refurbished IBM and Lenovo notebooks and desktops several times on the IBM.CA website under "Used Products." Delivery is generally free and they accept credit cards.

The notebooks and desktops are off lease and are in tip top shape. Prices vary with the model and options.

Highly recommended!

I personally don't like used laptops since you have no idea what's lurking inside. You can also get a perfectly capable brand new laptop for $500 these days that will last a few years at least. Why save $100 - $200 for years old technology when you can get brand new for not that much more.

A refurb directly from the manufacturer (Lenovo, Dell, Apple, etc.) or a major retailer like TigerDirect, Canada Computers (not sure if they are into refurbs) is better (return policy, someone's actually done a proper install of Windows, etc.) if you must have a used laptop.

Come to the States and your can buy a brand new laptop for <$300.

Personally I also wouldn't buy any used or refurbished laptops for the reasons you gave....:eyebrows:
