Exactly what I thought too. Trade deadline is coming. I hope AA does his due diligence and ship out these overpaid/overrated players of ours.

On a side note, Bautista needs to stop arguing balls/strikes and just play the damn game.
Good post.

There's a looong thread on RealGM about exactly this... "Rangers scouting Jose and Edwin".

Long story short...
Rangers have the best shortstop prospect in minors...
Actually, the #1 prospect overall period = Jurickson Profar...
While Reyes has been declining defensively for years.

Joey Bats is also on the decline...
And not exactly a "character guy" you build a team around...
But Rangers are 1.0 game out of wildcard...
Bautista can definitely take them over the top.

So Bautista for Profar (and whatever filler).

So you got Profar at SS for the next 10 years...
You move Reyes to 3rd with that rifle arm...
Meathead at 23 can adapt and fill the Black Hole at 2nd.

Ya gotta do it... hoping next year just works better out in not an option.

JB on decline?

He is on his way this year of beating his career, 162 game, and last 10 years average. 2010 and 2011 were not normal for him. As a Jay he has averaged ~25 HRs and ~70 RBIs and this year will exceed those stats by a good margin.

He still has an arm that most opponents won't often test.

If they deal Joe Bats aka "Face of the Franchise", I hope they get some Blue Chip pitching prospects for him as well. Because I don't think our starting pitching is anywhere close to good enough to compete w plus .500 teams.

Oakland could have been taken last night w half decent pitching and defence. They have no one in their lineup who could crack our batting order and we slammed their starter enough to have won. I get the sinking feeling that the league is starting to figure Esmil Rogers out and the rest of the season will not be pretty for him.

You may want to minimize the A's but they're 50 games above .500 since last July, and the Jays are 20 games below .500. They don't have any super stars, but who needs them. They know how to win and they've got excellent pitching and defence. And btw, I'm pretty sure Cespedes would start over Melky.

Here
Things are too quiet on the trading front... I would have thought that, by now, at least Oliver would have been dealt to a contender, if only to give the guy a chance at a ring before he retires.

I suspect that AA may be working on a mega-deal... it would be out of character for him not to be trying to strengthen the team for 2014 when he has so many good relief pitchers for whom he could get good value right now from one of the many contenders who need them...

Remember, as always with A.A., the more you hear about a possible trade, the less likely it is to occur.

The less you hear, the more likely something is to come to fruition.

The Rangers are looking for offensive help, with the probability that Nelson Cruz will be suspended. Rumors that Manny R. will be joining them. Wonder if the Rangers are interested in Bautista. If so I'd be real interested in trading him straight up for Ian Kinsler, but I doubt that will happen.
By the way, whats with the snub by JB against EE when he hit the 2 homers in the same inning?
Are you serious? You would trade Bautista for Kinsler straight up? Please be the GM in my league.

Two consecutive solid starts by Buehrle, they still have time to trade him. They will no doubt get some damn good offers before the trade deadline.

Hockey players play with injuries all the time whether there is one game left or 50 games left. Patrice Bergeron was just one example. If you disagree, give me examples where baseball players play with injuries like those suffered by athletes in other sports like hockey, football or even figure skating.
So, why hasn't our boy Rock been vocal on Tim Hudson's lack of courage?

Is it because Tim isn't a Blue Jay?

The slacker is taking the rest of the season off after having his ankle stepped on!!

Rumours the Jays are looking at Howie Kendrick of the Angels, would solidify their second base problem.

Ok, whatever. Couldn't find a smilie for "bullshit". Anyway, no Jays hurt running the bases since I sent them the Pete Rose "Baserunning 101" video.
But, but, but, you said baseball players (not just Blue Jays) are soft.

How come no criticism for Tim?

Tim's poor ankle was crushed by the baserunner. Reminds me of the time Joe Theisman broke his ankle. Ugly.
He was running to 1st base (to cover). You stated upthread how you couldn't understand players getting hurt running to 1st base.

Why don't you explain either your whining upthread, or your lack of complaint here?

You're right, it's very lopsided. I'll throw in the 2 Joshes...Johnson and Thole into the deal. About time JPA learned to catch that damn knuckler. That better?

Kinsler is a nice solid player. Jose Bautista is one of the top offensive forces in baseball and an accomplished defensive player. You would be an idiot to make that trade.
BTW-how's Oakland's easy sweep coming along?
