http://thelibertarianrepublic.com/p...ront-of-him-then-arrest-him-for-recording-it/

not sure what he was saying to instigate them to arrest him or if there was even a reason. i heard him screaming civil rights issue or something. not sure. the dog didn't like that his master was being pushed around and in the dogs eyes attacked. so the dog went at them. they probably could have restrained the dog without killing it but i wasn't in that situation to say whether or not they were in real danger.

is a shame to see an animal hurt at anytime like that but the guy looked like he was looking to get arrested to make some sort of point. he put the dog in the car he could have gotten in the car as well or not gotten involved at in in something that appeared to not involve him. who knows.

Completely wrong in my opinion. I saw nothing wrong with the man video tapping the events talking place and he was within his right to do so. The cops started this whole thing and then finished it with killing the dog. The matter is under investigation apparently.

The police were not arresting the other people video taping the events. Just wrong on so many levels.

Really Odd and sad! I don't understand why the dog was hurt. Although more info is needed to really assess, it looks like the shooting was meaningless. Going to hug my dog right now

Did not take time for video. Was the dog on a leash?
he had the dog on a leash, and put it in his car when the cops approached. he was very cooperative. the dog got out of the car.

if the cops had let him control his dog this wouldn;t have happened.

also the cops let the dog suffer as it was not a clean kill.

the dog was on a leash while he was walking back and forth yelling. then he put it in the car and came back to yell some more. when the cops arrested him the dog didn't like his owner being arrested so the dog got out and came at them. the cop was at point blank range and only hit about 2 of the 6 shots fired. then left the dog to twitch and shake till it died.

I hope charges will be brought against that asshole cop. There was no need to kill the dog!
i am not defending the cop or the dog. you can't say there was no need, you couldn't hear of the dog was attacking or growling. in the video you can see it made movement towards to the cop. they could have restrained it most likely but they were busy dealing with the asshole owner that was trying to get arrested.

The dog was shot because he was about to attack the cop (or appeared to just about attack him).

However, I think the cops should have left the owner alone (what did he really film that upset the police?). They could have also allowed the man to restrain his dog and get his pooch back into his car with the windows closed.

There's another angle to this video available on liveleak. One of the videos is clipped and makes the cops look like dog murderers. A second one is longer and shows the owner interfering with a police standoff that had nothing to do with him. The cops had a section of the street closed off for an armed standoff. The dog owner stopped his car with radio BLARING ( distracting the cops), got out and started beaking off to the cops about his civil rights being infringed because they blocked off the street. He interfered with the police standoff. All other observers were across the street; this guy was in the cops face. They were distracted from the potentially deadly situation they were trying to deal with. They handcuff the guy, dog protects owner, dog dies. The owner is the asshole here.

I have to agree with CapitalGuy, if you see a dangerous situation where there are many armed cops why bring your dog to it? Why was he there in the 1st place?

I didn't know about the music blaring but I wouldn't say he was 'in their face'. The dog owner surely was testing their tempers and being blatant about filming but he was about to walk away it seems, but stopped when they approached. He seemed to look for a confrontation (maybe to test his rights).

That dog was a Rottweiler and potentially vicious. The owner should have shut the car windows (or open just a little). So yeah, he's probably an inconsiderate asshole.

How do you restrain a 100+ lbs Rottweiler that is circling to attack you? Cops had 12 seconds from the time they noticed the dog coming, to when the dog lunged at the cop.
3 cops couldn't restrain a 100 pound dog ? also i said they were busy dealing with the asshole owner. i am not saying they did the right or wrong thing. they didn't have time to think and they just reacted. it was already a tense situation form the other things they had going on, this guy made it worse.

The fool is the author of his own misfortune ( or the misfortune of his dog )
Once the dog lunges, the police had the right to shoot it.
It was a tense situation, see SWAT armored vehicle in photo.
