I was in vegas a couple of weeks ago. Talking to a lot of people from all over. Including Canada. No one knew about it. I was there for a week. Talked to all kinds of people in various casinos. From all walks of life. Not a peep.
Cripes compared to London and Montreal...this is pure navel gazing.
I'm not sure what the denizens of Vegas gambling dens have to offer as benchmarks of widespread public awareness, but a day after the Gawker post broke the story (which our very own
Phil C. picked up and posted here just a couple of hours later, easily beating the
Star to spread the so-called accusation) a Taiwan animation studio had made and posted their savagely funny Ford piece (
yung-dood posted it in #46) all within one day.
Maybe your observation says more or as much about gamblers as it does about the interest in the story. Jon Stewart certainly doesn't make his living running stuff no one cares about. For that matter neither do our local papers, and media outlets, or Gawker for that matter.
Phil can speak about his opening post for himself, but we haven't filled all these pages since out of disinterest.
