It looks like the highly sought after Falcao is going to Monaco for 60 million euros. Now this completely boggles the mind!! The whole rumour of going to Chelsea I can completely understand, highly rated league, CL team and you get to live in London with all its goodies. But other than the money why on earth would you move to a recently prompted side?
I can almost guarantee you Falcao is getting a huge sack of money under the table, and that money is right now sitting in some Swiss bank account

.The acquisition season has also swung into high gear already. Barcelona have acquired Neymar from Santos, a real coup to my mind.
All cule's saw this coming all along. Villa is not the player that he was and I doubt you'll see him in Blue & Garnet next season. Alexis runs hot and cold but Tello is a budding star and Pedro is solid as Gibraltar rock. Neymar will just have to learn some discipline and won't be the Golden Boy anymore as he'll have to keep up with Messi. This will humble him and make him a better player. What I'm really concerned with is a replacement for Victor Valdes. He threw the traditional "Adios & Gracias" dinner where he treated the whole team. This is what a player does when he leaves the club. He only has a year left on his contract but it seems (behind closed doors) that a deal has been made and we'll need a new keeper. Big, big shoes to fill.

Also with Pepe Guardiola coming in next year for Bayern, how on earth do you top a treble, one of the hardest feats to pull off in sports?

Just an observation Scouser: It's 'PEP', not 'PEPE'. He's Catalan and not Castillian. Just for your own knowledge within conversation.

There were some other clubs in the running for the lad, but Barca was the safe bet. I do wonder how his and Messi's relationship will work, and just how they will deploy the lad. I look forward to seeing how it works out.

But the lad won't be playing fullback...

So Barca sign the Justin Beiber of football, as rld pointed out he doesn't play fullback. This is Nello's club and will be for the foreseeable future. The money would have been better spent on a couple of staunch defenders. Arsenal is attempting to outbid Juve for Higuain, whenever the Gunners take on The Old Lady it doesn't go well. Quite frankly they can have him, there are better forwards in Serie A.

Back to Neymar, Brazil will play Italy to kickoff Sepp Blather's vanity tournament. He gets shut down again, what then?

As an Evertonian I'm sad that Moyes has left, but its a well deserved promotion. He took Everton to giddy heights on a shoe string budget. Unfortunately for the Blues, they can't keep good players (and now Managers) because they have no money in the kitty. Moyes follows Rooney, Arteta, Lescott who have all left the Toffees for greener pastures. I wonder who will now Manage the team......Neville, Big Dunc or ???? It will be an interesting season. Well at least we finished higher than Liverpool! :thumb:

please please please let it be Neville, not like I need another reason to hate the blue side of Liverpool. You may have finished higher this year but the Reds future looks more promising than your side.

Agreed, not a big fan of Higuain, I would prefer if Arsenal signed Jovetic.

Looks like Nevill will assist Moyes at Manure...Roberto Martinez from Wigan is cleared to have discussions with Everton.

Really? A report I saw on ESPN reported Martinez thought Everton weren't "big enough" for him. Funny how that's coming from a team in the relegation zone.....but go figure how they won the cup (beating the Toffees on the way).

Sad but true. The reds future looks better every season for the past few decades post Heyshel stadium disaster. My reason for hating the reds!

Higuain is far more polished, I'd prefer him over Jovetic for Arsenal.

But they'll end up with some French phenom from the French league.

Ac Milan just scraped a victory in their final match, if they tied Fiorentina would be going to the CL. The strategy is perfect, raise the stakes on Higuain then sign Jovo. He just may be the best trequartista since Kaka which is exactly what The Old Lady need.

Rafa Benitez has signed as Napoli's new coach, Mazzarri gets to rebuild Inter. That's what he does best so don't expect the Neroazzurri to be out of Europe for long.

For those, like me, who love the upsets of cup football, where the little dogs get to take a bite out of the big dogs, I offer this amazing, historic upset in the Austrian Cup, where a third division team won the final against perennial powerhouse Austria Wien.

The fact that I am a Rapid fan has nothing to do with it. ;-)

And it was great to see Bayern finish the treble in a very entertaining game.

Few things in sports are more awesome than seeing a major upset, that's why they play the game. Anyways does that mean F.C. Pasching gets a way into the Europa League? and rld I am sure watching your biggest rivals go down to a 3rd division side brought some joy hmmm?

It puts them pretty close to a Europa league spot, final qualifying I think. They are a solid squad and won their league and now fight to move up.

And yes, it was a pleasure to see a spunky third trier squad deny our cross town rivals the double.

That is why I am asking ... I assumed at least two players have to touch the ball .. How else do you explain why teams have two players standing there on kick off
Because the first player cannot play the ball again until the ball has been touched by another player.

The second player is there to allow for a short pass to allow the team kicking off to maintain possession.

I know of no rule that prohibits that goal. I don't think that a kick off is the same as an indirect kick. But I could be wrong.
