Huge holes and all, it's better than anything he's said or done for a week. He blamed his silence on his lawyer telling him to say nothing, as if his lawyer was qualified to advise the Mayor what to do. I'm sure he's be first to say his client was Rob, not the Mayor of the City of Toronto. And you can bet he approved every word in and not in what little Rob said.

The issue for the past week was: What's the Mayor got to say about this, what is it doing to his job and what is he doing today, whether about this distraction or about the City? If he can't manage this 'crisis', where's the spokesman who can? He's needed, and we've needed that help for a week now, and all we've had is leaderless confusion. Surely the Mayor of our biggest city, the centre of media, advertising, management and spin can find someone to help him do other than hide. But if Rob has shown us anything over his term it's that he does not play well with others.

Those questions still haven't been addressed by the guy in the office, and he's gone again.

Ford finally had a press conference but still didn't take questions or answer the big ones.
He said he's not a crack addict or doesn't use crack, present tense only, leaving it open that he may have in the past.
And for the video, he only says he hasn't seen it, so how could he say its him in it.

Something tells me his radio show this sunday could be fun to catch.
An addict is an addict for life, there is not past and present. He answered the question - believe him or not. Now it's up to the Star and whomever's skirt they're hiding behind to provide evidence to back up their story...could get interesting.

Not that either of you have denied the hole in Ford's self-defined transit program is still there, and it's the only one Mr. Subways, subways, subways seems likely ever to produce. Like the rest of what this Council has done, it's been done by others, in spite of not because of Ford.

Ford finally holds his press conference once the dealer can not be located or reached...things that make you go hmmmm
Be fair. We all knew way back from last Sunday he will be hosting his radio show this Sunday (and speaking his side of the story) and that was way before it was announced the dealer can not be located or reached.

I would have no respect for a mayor who could not make a drug dealer disappear.

What if $200,000 or more are raised and after the money transferred Gawker shut down and disappear and never to be heard again?

And we still haven't seen the video?

I get around.

But...Ford appointed her as TTC chair. And she's a Conservative. If your point is valid, Ford is even more of an idiot for giving her the job (or giving any job with responsibility to a Conservative?). And he actually liked her until she contradicted him. Like what happened with his Chief of Staff yesterday. And Gary Webster before that. Remember him? Didn't go along with the Rob Ford playbook, got fired, cost the city $500,000 in severance. That was a lotta gravy for Ford to dish out over a disagreement.

After this week we're all left wondering: Are right wing leaders completely incompetent at choosing their staff, or is the talent pool of conservative staffers so shallow that they always end up with huge disappointments, scandals and unbelievable denials from the leaders who appointed them.

Now Macleans magazine has weighed in with an article that goes something like thishttp://www2.macleans.ca/2013/05/24/...r-about-the-video-and-its-time-for-you-to-go/:

This isn’t about a video anymore. Last night, Gawker announced that its “Crackstarter” campaign had hit a snag, insofar as the skittish drug dealers it was planning to buy the alleged Rob Ford-smokes-crack video from had vanished. We might have seen this coming. I cannot imagine that a week of international publicity is the kind of thing that soothes a crack-dealing videographer’s nerves, even one who’s planning a fresh start after leaving town in an auspicious blaze of extortion. Years hence, we’ll cringe to remember that, for a few days, a cross-border scheme to funnel $200,000 in crowdfunded money to drug dealers was widely viewed as Toronto’s last, best shot at political accountability.

It’s moot now. The video is a MacGuffin. Its contents pale next to the flight reaction they’ve brought out in the mayor, and the unravelling that’s followed.
Now, we learn that members of Ford’s executive committee are speaking out against him, and laying plans to “run the city.”

Bad as they are, things could keep getting worse.
Irrespective of the allegations themselves, Ford has terminally damaged his credibility by leaving the city hanging when it needed to hear from him most. And with his credibility goes our credibility, in our own eyes and the eyes of the world on which we depend. Toronto cannot keep on until the end of 2014 with a mayor who won’t address the charges against him that have ground government to a halt, who’s turned his city into a global laughingstock, and who could well be self-destructing in the grips of an addiction. The status quo is not an option. Yet the courses that aren’t an option are the ones Ford has historically been most determined to pursue.

What if he refuses to budge again, convinced he has no problem? Those who spoke truth to power get fired. Those who report are branded conspirators.
There is practically no way to impeach a mayor, and there’s certainly no way to force him into rehab. The nightmare scenario sees the Fords staging a two-man Alamo, fighting on against their colleagues and the media, grinding this on into a long crisis of governance until finally, inexorably, something gives. The price to the city could be huge. The price to Ford himself could be greater still.

The alternative lies in the hands of any who’s still telling the Fords that this situation is tenable. It isn’t.Please, mayor. Don’t do this to yourself, and don’t do this to us. Please end this now, and go.

All this media attention at Ford (unless a video is actually produced) will make those in the media look like the bad guys and make Ford the Matyr. Just like in the last election everyone attacked Ford and it backfired on them helping him to win the election.

If Ford did pay them, can a guy come up with 200gs without anyone noticing. Would he have to withdraw it from somewhere or could something like this be done easily.

Ford did nothing more than give a wishy-washy political opportunist the chance to show she was a loyal, competent, and professional manager capable of overseeing the city's transit file. She has independently proven time and time again that she is not capable of doing so. Rob Ford is not to blame because Karen Stintz has consistently shown herself to be a completely incompetent backstabbing beaatch.

Since you brought it up... Are you kidding? Gary Webster was well past his prime and should have been turfed long ago. Andy Byford is a far more capable person to head up the TTC and wasn't hired because he thinks subways are the only way to go.

Now, back to the subject, I'm still waiting to see the video. Someone doesn't have their facts straight. Nobody knows for sure until the video is seen and authenticated. Until then it's all speculation.

He may have never smoked "crack"... if I am not mistaken, other drugs like meth can be smoked using similar "pipes"
If you'd been following the story, it's about Ford allegedly smoking crack, not meth. Go back to the first post and click on the link. You can read all about it.

Actually, Gary Webster was and is very well respected in the Civil Engineering community in Toronto.
