Let me ask you, what makes you think Gibbons is a good manager and should not be fired?!

It's not that I think he's a good manager, I just think that a manager can only do so much. He''s not the one at the plate or in the field. How people can blame john gibbons for a team that is 10-17 I find unreal. The team isn't batting worth a lick and pitching has been sub-par. Why isn't anyone saying "maybe this team wasn't as good as what we thought?"

Lets look at the team:

1b-lind and EE= EE is batting up a storm, Lind is platooning between DH and 1b. Starting to get on base due walks but still not a real threat in the line up
2b- do I even have to say anything? no defence or hitting what so ever from that spot
SS- A guy who completely changes the look of this line up has been out
3rd- lawrie=good defence and bat is coming around
catcher-nothing from the guy that catches dicky accpet he can catch the knuckle ball, j.p homer's or strikes out
Left- Jose=not even battng 200
Centre-colby= not much better then Jose
right=melky-a gamble on a guy no longer on roids who doesn't seem to be able to play without them (having said that, last year he had a horrible April and cought fire in May so still some time)

Colby Rasmus is has the highest average right now out of all the regulars at a clip of 253.

Your not going to win a lot of ball games when your best average is 250.

So that brings us to the question of why? I personally don't hold gibbons responsible for it. I don't even hold chad motolla reponsible for it either. I hold the players accountable for it.

Pitching:
Dicky=Has pitched okay but having some health problems which has made him have some bad starts (broken finger nail and bad neck)
Morrow-Has pitched average
Buehrle-has not pictched well at all (kind of his MO, has a good year, bad year, good year, bad year ect)
Johnson- has pitched like shit and there is concern that there is a health issue
j.happ- pitched great for your 5th starter

Put all that together and you have team that just hasn't played well. I just don't understand how it's gibbons fault. What's he supposed to do? Stand in the dugout and yell ra ra chants to try and get them to play better?

It's funny, Look at guys like Ozzie Guillen. Won the world series with white sox. Went to Florida with a team that was supposed to have tons of talent but also failed huge. Same guy managing both teams. So is he a good manager or bad manager? Please don't say something like maybe he changed his managerial style.

I hope some of this guys start playing up to there potential with a healthy reyes and this team starts to play the way people thought. Then gibbons can stick to everyone.

Man the umpire tonight was just terrible. I don't even mind when the y call balls strikes outside of the zone when it is consistant. But this guy is all over the place. Cost us I think especially when Happ was pitching.

I gather reading comprehension is not one of your strengths, either:

Perry
Its obviously not yours. I asked you how much time you spent with this particular team to know or understand what john gibbons is doing that according to you "isn't putting them in the right mental state to win"

You answered by telling me you know alot. due to the fact you've coached 12 year old pimpled face kids that don't know what side of the bed to piss on. Coaching 12 year old kids going through puberty and grown men that are professionals are apples and oranges.

I also think coaching hockey is a different animal all together than coaching/managing baseball teams.

I could even understand the agument if it was a team with bunch of rookies, but it's not. This is a team full veterans and guys that are well established into their career. Ther should be little coaching involved.

My question was "how much time have you spent in team meeting, practices, ect...with THIS team" not the 12 year old boys team you coached.

2ndly, yes I have coached baseball.Wrong again!
Hay BBL, remember me, the Gibby basher, just to let you know I have both played and coached, played NY Pen leauge (NIAGARA FALLS PIRATES)
7years, cocahed 15years Sr mens (one division below NY Pen)

lol....

Did you ever have a loosing team? If so, was it because your body language and the stuff coming from your mouth wasn't putting them in the right mental state?

If you coach baseball in the future and your team is playing well, you may want to consider bringing in Tony Robbins. That should fix everything...lol

It was totally obvious that your question was rhetorical as no expects that Perry was in the dugout. Therefore he left out the "no" and proceeded to give some of his baseball background to help explain his opinion.

Nothing to get all pissy about.

Right, and I woudn't have gotten "all pissy" if he didn't make the crack about reading comprehension not being my strong point, but he did so I was a smart ass back.

The Jays are a last place team. You are what your record says you are according to Bill Parcels.

Here we point the finger directly at management. This Alex does not know what he is doing.

Some players on the roster. Lawrie, Ramus, Arencebia. Pitchers Delabar, Loup, Jessen, Morrow. Otherwise, the entire roster is old, and playing like an over the hill gang.

Not enough starting pitching. Inconsistent offense. That means last place in this division the AL East.

The damn Yankees and Red Sox, they seem to have kind of old rosters too, but they keep on winning. While Tampa, always seem to manage on a shoe string budget, and seem to have new players come up through their ranks. Baltimore has done well with new players through their system.

That's the Jays. Unable to compete by spending like the NYY or BOS, and unable to complete by developing talent like TAM or BAL. That means last place.

How often has Toronto finished ahead of Tampa the last ten years? Not often I don't think. That's last place. It's only the beginning of May. It's going to be a long season for Jays fans.

Bring back Cito Gaston I say. He had an 85 -77 record with a fairly shitty Jays team back in 2010.

Maybe he can turn things around

Cito is not the answer...he is a placebo at this point..although a good placebo. But a new manager is in order. The lack of experience of the hitting coach is a real problem. After the game on tuesday, I praised what looked like a new approach at the plate..not swinging for home runs when base hits are needed...but then they went right back to the mighty swings and mighty strikeouts and pop outs when swinging for 2 run homers with nobody on base. Can you bring some one in to coach (not manage) in mid season to straighten out the approach problems?

I would give Cabrera 2 more weeks to prove he is a premium hitter......his numbers are horrific and he is swinging at pitches a rookie (read Gose ) would not be so foolish.

Ah!

I just thought of THE solution to the BJ's woes...

We have to sacrifice some virgins because... the gods are angry, my friends!

Now where-the-fuck on a board like this do we find some virgins?

It's either fire the manager or fire the whole team...

As I watch the game right now, to me they seem to be playing without confidence.

Obviously, Gibbons is unable to inspire their confidence. No matter what BBL says, it is a leader's responsibility to inspire the teams' confidence and, in professional baseball, that leader is the skipper.

I don't see desperation, at least not yet, but if they have no confidence and they keep losing, it cannot be far behind.

To follow the horse racing analogy above, the owner picks the jockey and if he picks the wrong jockey, that is where responsibility ultimately lies.

It's no secret that AA picked an old friend; he picked and old friend instead of the best jockey.

Shoot, a line shot to 3B is caught and Rasmus gets doubled off. This is a must win game for the Jays to stop the bleeding.
