Saw Jays at Camden (nice park) last August. O's in the thick of it. Fans reminded me of a Skydome crowd
He's pushed a lot good points across lately!!!

LMAO @ scouser1Fenway has it's charm that non baseball die hards will never understand (90% of people in that hanger the Jays play in) The game and the stadium and it's history are the main attractions, you go to a Jays game and all the side show nonsense is torture, every 5 minutes it's "hey let's have a big hand for Coco the Dancing Monkey" "hey stand up and scream if you want a t-shirt"
So the Camden fans were ignorant, easily distracted and gone in the 7th of a close game then?Count me in as voting "dump".

My point exactly. I like baseball. I don't need to be told when the game is exciting, and I don't really want a t-shirt.Fenway has it's charm that non baseball die hards will never understand (90% of people in that hanger the Jays play in) The game and the stadium and it's history are the main attractions, you go to a Jays game and all the side show nonsense is torture, every 5 minutes it's "hey let's have a big hand for Coco the Dancing Monkey" "hey stand up and scream if you want a t-shirt".
Sorry for not being more specific. So the Camden fans were ignorant, easily distracted and gone in the 7th of a close game then?![]()
I hope you don't think I'm saying the field is the only reason there's no atmosphere? It's a contributor, but the lack of baseball interest, knowledge, and passion are far bigger factors. While I truly hope interest exists in Toronto, I don't have a lot of faith.Sorry for not being more specific.
They were quiet. That in spite of playing in a park with "atmosphere" during a pennant race.
BTW, it looks like nobody has left the Jays game tonight into the 8th, tied 4-4. It goes to my point that atmosphere is created by the product on the field not the field, itself, as some would have us believe.
You don't miss your water 'til the well runs dry. This is a fan base that left WS games in the 6th.
I saw a game a petco as well and loved it. Such a nice stadiumFenway is not a dump. It's a classic, as is Wrigley. I would much rather see a ballgame there than Skydump.
Saw a game last September at Petco, very nice. Padres were well out of it, still a fun atmosphere with dedicated, knowledgable fans.
I also didn't have to mortgage my house for a beer.![]()
Look, there's no question that the reality of this is the rogers centre is here to stay due to various reasons, I think people interpreted this thread and me thinking it was a vaiable and real option. My point wasn't that a few million in reno's should have been saved to put towards a stadium that would cost hundreds of millions of dollars. I was just simply trying to say it's to bad we were about 2 years ahead of the times and we'll never see a nice ballpark in our lifetime in T.O I think Rogers could afford it, but it's a comittment that isn't 100% return investment so it's probably not worth the risk. I think what I was trying to say and probably didn't articulate my point properly, it's just tough to watch them put 2 million here, 2 million there into the stadium but it won't change the fact it's just not a good ball park.Where is there room for a new stadium anyways?
Ontario place is only location I can think of, and that land wont be cheap
It's not comparing apples and oranges at all. We are comparing ball parks, not when they were built. Even if you were using this as your argument, Fenway and Wrigley are way older and far superior places to watch a ball game.Sort of like comparing apples to oranges since the Skydome was built before them.
thank you for providing a stellar example of this behavior.
You and bigdik are the two that seem to be getting this the most.Fenway has it's charm that non baseball die hards will never understand (90% of people in that hanger the Jays play in) The game and the stadium and it's history are the main attractions, you go to a Jays game and all the side show nonsense is torture, every 5 minutes it's "hey let's have a big hand for Coco the Dancing Monkey" "hey stand up and scream if you want a t-shirt".
Yes, all mlb ball parks should be domes for the few times a year they have bad weather.:frusty:I wonder how the 637 fans in the stands are enjoying the atmosphere in Detroit today.
Probably not as much as the 30,000 who were smart enough to stay home.
