Might as well close this thread, since I'm sure many are disappointed having not been given the chance to express their racist feelings 'with reason'. That's why this thread isn't 10 pages long.

I thought the altercation was between two senior citizens arguing who had the right of way as they were power walking through the mall.

Victim identified in fatal Yorkdale shooting

Hundreds of cars remain stranded in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre’s parking lot, as police investigate the city’s 15th homicide — identified Sunday as 23-year-old Michael Nguyen.

“This was an isolated incident between two groups,” Homicide Det. Rob North told reporters Sunday afternoon.

At around 8 p.m. multiple shots rang out at the southwest end of the mall’s parking lot, near the Sears entrance, killing Nguyen and wounding another man.

The 23-year-old Toronto man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, who police have yet to identify, was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Both Nguyen and the unidentified victim were known to police.

“There were no innocent bystanders that were shot,” North said.

Police removed Nguyen’s body at around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, 11 hours after he was gunned down.

According to North there are five or six suspects, and several weapons were fired during the shooting.

Police towed a grey Toyota Corola from the parking lot they described as a “vehicle of interest.”

The forensic identification unit is still on scene investigating and the canine unit has been dispatched. Yordale’s parking lot is littered with vehicles, and over 30 evidence markers. Officers are scouring large amounts of video footage captured by Yorkdale’s security cameras for evidence.

The police investigation choked off traffic Saturday night and Sunday morning, forcing some to leave their vehicles overnight.

Shoppers like Irena Sandler have been arriving at the parking lot all morning to retrieve their cars. “I’m trying not to stress out,” said Sandler. “A person lost his life.”

Rishi Tandon was shopping at Yorkdale with his wife and two young daughters on Saturday when the shooting broke out. He and his family tried to leave the chaotic parking lot soon after, but were trapped as police had locked all exits. The Tandon’s made their way inside to the subway. “We freshened up, changed the baby’s diaper and got ready to leave.” They didn’t arrive home until midnight.

Drivers who parked near the Sears entrance can retrieve their cars later this afternoon, say police.

The mall is closed today, Easter Sunday. In a statement released early Sunday morning Yorkdale spokesperson David Wills said “the matter is under the control of Toronto Police, and we are cooperating with them fully to support their ongoing investigation.”

This is the second time in less than a year that a Toronto mall has been the scene of a deadly shooting.

The Eaton Centre shooting last June killed two men, both in their 20s. Nixon Nirmalendran, 22, and Ahmed Hassan, 24, were gunned down in the mall’s food court.

In Yorkdale itself, violence is not entirely unheard of: A bulletproof vest saved the life of a mall security guard who was shot during a confrontation with two robbery suspects in 2009. Further, a gunman in a car sprayed the steps outside the Yorkdale TTC station — connected to the mall — in 2005.

Police have reopened some of the mall’s exits.

I was worried that some trucker would not back up and let some red car pass. But I saw Ceiling Cat was online so had to speculate who got clipped.

was talking to a guy here in jackson mississippi while having dinner and said there was a shooting at a mall in toronto last night and he looked shocked. i asked him why he was surprised and he told me he didn't think there was guns in canada.

Had a gun course safety instructor tell me one time that he had been stopped by the local police in Ont . The cop asked him what he had in his brief case . That's where he kept his locked hand guns . He was going home from the gun club . The cop said that we aren't allowed to own hand guns in Canada . Well of course the instructor had the necessary papers for transport and ownership . He told the cop to call his Sargent because he wasn't going to deal with a cop that doesn't know the law .

Cop let him go on his way .

the lack of knowledge of canadian gun laws is almost laughable. had a big argument with a guy in texas, he decided to tell me what the laws and rules in canada were since he knows better than me. so i whipped out my phone and showed him some links that proved all his theories wrong. then pulled out a good link that showed in a study done by 3 separate universities in canada, u.s and new zeland that the u.s is ranked 7th for personal freedoms while canada is ranked 4th, that got him to full rage mode and he stormed off.
