That pass by Crosby was not luck Ironhead, but skill. Hours of practice and preparation and to nit pick because it wasn't in the wheel house, it was on the tape though...the guy on the end of the pass practices too and he demonstrated skill by putting that pass in the back of the net.
All Crosby wants is his teammates to be prepared for passes like that and Dupuis showed he was.

Skill, not luck.

And with a little help from Phaneuf who got caught out of postion again.
It was a great pass but it wouldn't have gotten there if Phaneuf stayed where he was supposed to.
Actually the whole play would have developed differently, if he stayed in his place.
He never learns.
And he can't hit the side of a barn from the blueline.
Can't blame him on the other two goals though.

The Leafs have not been getting the lucky bounces the past 4 games. The Leafs don't have the talents of a Pittsburgh team so they need really good goaltending and a bit of luck to win. Also, Fleury played well last night as did the Jets goaltender the other night.
One game - lucky bounces...four games - slide

Winnipeg in town tonight.

With the four game loser the Leafs are almost into must win territory.
Toronto has 20 games remaining.

I hear Lupul is back tonight. It will likely take him a few games to get into game shape. Where does Carlyle put him ?
Maybe start him back on second or third line, although the first line could use a kick start.
I start Scrivens tonight if it were up to me.

Go Leafs !

I'll give the Leafs credit for battling back from 3 down to get a tie, but they looked so bad for large chunks of time I'm not sure they deserved even the single point.

How many times (especially in the second) were they running/scrambling around in their own zone chasing the Jets like a Junior B team? Could not get the puck out.

Not that I noticed bit it must have been Phaneuf's fault.

The Leafs reminds me of a man in quicksand. Just when they claw their way almost to the top, they fall back in. Oh well, a point is a point.

Hope the next games with TB then Buffalo are much better.
The schedule is weird. The Leafs are off for 3 days and then play 3 games in 4 nights. I was worried maybe they rushed Lupul back too soon and should have waited until Wednesday but he looked good to-night.

I'd also like to see Kostka back injected into the roster...
I don't know why he was taken out, unless he's not 100 percent. IMO Holzer has struggled much more than Kostka and was especially victimized in the Pitt game (ridden out and stripped of the puck on the first goal, collapsed too far back to recover on the 2nd).

2nd period last night was torture to watch. If not for those two late goals in 25 seconds, would have been their worst of the season. Probably still was. Still a lot of work to do. Hope they recover.

The leafs too often get pinned in their own end, often with poor fight for the puck on the boards, out of position players on shootarounds, and failing to pick up their checks.

Yes they have offence, as evidenced by the comeback. But DEFENCE wins games, and with Phaneuf out there almost half the game, it's tough to win with a Jr B looking defence.

fm, they do get pinned in their end, but so do alot of teams. Goal is an issue that the Leafs have to contend with. Scrivens gets pulled after letting a bunch in and Reimer doesn't look comfortable at all. fighting the puck always.

I stopped watching after they lost 4 games in a row.. fuckin' leafs, they still suck!
And the bandwagon gets lighter and lighter everyday.

I feel sorry for Leaf fans sometimes.
You all invest so much in this team.
You are so often let down.
I mean how much is it going to suck to see them finish in 9th this year?
Ouch! Short by one place? The horses pulling the bandwagon might die this time.:eyebrows:

I don't fault the team. They are young, leading NHL in PIM, physical, have much improved PP and PK. Some melt down nights, but overall, fun team to watch and pull for. As Kadri, Kostka, and others continue to gel and improve the future looks only more promising. I hope the playoffs happen, but if not see the improvement from all areas.

None the less, its a good time for being a Sens or Habs fan. Again both win last night. Canada's chances for a cup again are looking good.
I don't think Nonis had any illusions about this team when the year started.
There's a lot work to be done before they can get any real traction with success on the ice.
There are a lot of over-priced contracts bogging down this team, some because the players can't live up to the $, and some because the players are just shit.
I think Nonis will make some significant moves at the end of the year/ trade deadline, to facilitate some improvement.
The Leafs need drastic upgrade at center and at goalie. To do that, they will have to do some re-shuffling that fans may not be happy with.
The defence is also lacking but I see the light at the end of that tunnel.
I have confidence in Nonis thus far, he's patient, no BS, no bold statements, he's playing his major prospects, to see who's worthy and who needs to go.
Firing Burke's ass was the first and most important step that MLSE took to stop the bleeding.

Sometimes I think Leaf fans deserve the criticism we get, we don't have a realistic perspective of our own players and we have bought into
management's spin hook , line, and sinker for way to long.
What the Leafs have to worry about is a collapse of moral. Notwithstanding a few lapses in some games lately, they have played their balls off
and are not getting the results. That's an indication of a lack of talent.

Kat, I love you but Leaf fans have been saying this for over 45 years now. Saying the exact same thing. Over and over and over ............

A chance for a Canadian team to win a Cup ? Not by those two teams.
Over a four to seven game series I do not see Montreal or Ottawa being a threat to Boston or Pittsburgh.

However if the Penguins and Bruins got knocked off ....

That's probably the funniest thing I've read in a long time.
