Steve J. Cannell was inspired by "Dirty Harry" to create "Hunter", so my answer is correct as well!!
Are you sure?

quote

The show's executive producer during the first season was Stephen J. Cannell, whose company produced the series. (This was one of the few series made by his company that he did not either create or co-create.)

Also, Hunter was set in L.A. not S.F.

Barney Miller, he handed over command to Yamana.

Barney is a witness in a large cocaine bust trial but refused to name his source of information. The judge refers to him as "an uncooperative witness" and cites him for contempt.

"One such example was the Stephen J. Cannell TV series, Hunter.
Cannell (Rockford Files, The A-Team, 21 Jump Street, The Commish) created this show to baldly capitalize on Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry franchise"

Also, it doesn't matter where the show takes place, Hunter's character is similar to Dirty Harry-both are tough cops who bend the rules occassionally.

While the show was produced by his company, he did not create the show.

When Caesar Romero saw his costume in a drawing for the first time, he started to laugh hysterically. The producers liked his laugh so much that they asked him to make it the Jokers laugh.
I found it quite humorous to read that Romero refused to shave off his moustache for the role of The Joker, so they covered it with white pancake makeup.
