Misjudged the time I had to clear the intersection. Boy those things take pretty sharp photos! :(

This is the first time in a while i have heard of someone talk of the red light camera. I have been through many of them, caught I thought for sure, many times but have never recieved a ticket, was beginning to think they not using them anymore...

Good. Hope they're back to stay. Fed up with sitting at a green light while red light runners are still turning in front of me. $1000 fine w/b nice.

Think they are flawed as they are not assessing the whole situation to assess if one might have needed to contiue through rather than do a sudden stop. Sometimes there is extenuating situations.

the camera starts taking pics once the red is initiated...even if you are stationary at a yellow but are in the zone where there camera is focused...you will get caught on camera.
if you are even just a bumper into the red zone but pull back after ..too bad you got it....you might be able to fight it saying you didnt go completely thru the red light but 90% of the time you're gonna get the fine and have to pay it.
Yup $320 is the fine ...and NO ONE is immune doesnt matter who you are.

Also, not every box has a camera, I think only about 80% of them have a camera. They do move the cameras around so you do not know, which has a camera. The OP probably got lucky.

I was in my brothers car yesterday, his GPS also alerts to cameras, pretty cool, talks to you, he said he only paid $130...didn't ask the brand name.

Agree completely.

They should camera every intersection with a redlight as far as I'm concerned. Nothing more dangerous than idiots who run hard reds.

... Also, they work on right hand turns. SO don't mess with those either. Full stop required.
I saw this last week. A no turn on red intersection and saw the flash go off as the guy turned. The no right turn signs and red light camera signs were pretty prominent but I guess the guy didn't put 2 and 2 together.

p.s. kudos to the OP for not making the thread about how to beat the ticket.

Nope, the OP (me) didn't get lucky, that's why I know the pictures are very clear and they show enough around you that there was no way I could argue that I was afraid the guy behind me (no one there in my case :)) wasn't going to stop in time.

p.s. kudos to the OP for not making the thread about how to beat the ticket.
Naw, I did the crime so I gotta pay. Fact I paid before I made the post here. :)

My 5 year old tomtom gps has the red light camera detection, I think all newer units have them and you can get it with older models through software update.

btw the light has to be red before you completely enter the intersection completely, and still be red after you depart the intersection completely. If back tires are on the line as you enter and it turns red, they cannot ticket you. I suspect this is why a lot of tickets aren't issued when drivers thought for sure they were going to get nailed.

Totally agree!

They take everything into account. If more than one car is in the picture they don't send them. Also, they work on right hand turns. SO don't mess with those either. Full stop required.
That's true, you must come to a full stop before you turn right on a red or you'll get nabbed. The only way you can beat the red light camera is to come to a full stop before you proceed through the light. However I don't recommend you try it. :)
