I lost 25 pounds I cut out red meat to once a week, no pop, no glutten. Lost about a pound or two a week. Light amounts of excercise (20 minute walks). Rarely snacking after 8pm.

Now I'm at where I should be for my BMI

Oh and all meals are home cooked except for 2 to 3 of the 21 meals per week.

That sounds like a great diet.
And don't forget to eat as much saturated fat as possible.

Oh I cheat on weekends at least once or twice eating anything I want.

My point was that you can lose weight in a number of ways. I think that your diet takes a little more care in that if you want to do it long term there are risks if not done properly.

Also, I think the best diets are the ones you can maintain. If it works for you great.

your diet is good for the everyday average person. my diet is geared towards those who work out specifically bodybuilding. basically it allows you to cut fat while maintaining muscle mass and energy. but itll be suitable for any man or woman who wants to cut fat not just "lose weight"

Why not lose the idea of a "diet" and adopt a "lifestyle?" Any extreme is bound to have a counter-extreme. If you starve the body of anything, it becomes imbalanced and will find its own altered equilibrium. Fortunately, there are more than enough choices to satisfy one's appetite, so any form of deprivation seems unnecessary (not to mention counter-productive).

Not that I'm a fan of that show "The biggest loser," or whatever it was called, but Jillian Michaels' book "Boost your Metabolism" is quite brilliant (IMHO). She explains how modified and refined foods create hormonal imbalances that cause weight gain (among other things, such as fatigue). For me, the book was a welcome and do-able paradigm shift.

Good luck :)

my thoughts? any diet works if it reduces the total caloric intake providing, of course, you keep up the same expenditure. this one works because in the end you tire of fat and meat and eat way less. no issue there.

as for the health aspects...the only question i have is where to you go if you get sick? if you go to that sports nutritionist, then fine. if you go to a western trained doctor, then i think it's only wise to go-with-the-plan. our best theories shown in long term studies to be valid suggest strongly that this type of diet isn't healthy. conspiracy theorists suggest that isn't true. you pick the way you want to go. it's your life.

some people talk about calories to nutrient ratio meaning the ideal foods are a balance between low cal and high nutriets. So eating something like say lettuse while low on cal are also low on nutrients.

msog..... if you diet is meant for body builders doesn't that mean if you don't work out that you will get fat on the diet?

Oh I forgot a big one in my diet is also avoid dairy...... I still have pizza maybe once evey two weeks but aside from that, maybe some mayo on a tuna or salmon sandwich that's about it. I try to not bake with butter. I'm not sure if coconut oil is better or worse than butter but I have been experimenting with it in baked goods.

While not an advocate for vegan or vegetarian diets, I think people forget that a cow got that big on eating veggies. Meaning one can get protein from things other than meats. Granted you can't survive on the cow diet. :D

biggest part about eating right is cleaning out your cupboards and fridge of junk and plan your shopping trips. It's hard enough to stick to a new diet especially if you don't keep the necessary ingredients around to sustain it. I plan about 3 or 4 days in advance and cycle dinners as a lunches a couple days later. Plannning also ensures that you don't get bored eating the same thing all the time.

I agree.
And the old saying about never going shopping hungry is also true.
I don't keep any junk food or highly processed stuff around, but when i go shopping and I'm really hungry, I always
end up buying some crap ( which I inevitably end up eating on the way home).
