What breed is your dog?

I wish my dog can protect me from a pitbull attack. The only mid-size
breed to beat a pitbull I can think of would be a bull terrier based on what
I read about them. I was told not-withstanding a warm temperature they
are pound-for-pound the most powerful dog.

I have a four and a half month old golden retriever. Could he protect me from a pitbull? Hummm, well he did survive a vicious attach from a towel yesterday and did come out victorious after about five minutes.

Seriously??? keep thinking that..police dogs no...german sheperds...and any other dog ..TRAINED....
The difference is the police have to train their dogs to be aggressive when appropriate and to stop when ordered. When the training fails and the dog relies on its more docile instincts and the public is safe.

Pit bulls have to be trained NOT to be aggressively overprotective. When the training fails, other animals and occasionally children become snacks.

Of course many pittbulls are well trained and well cared for and there are asshole owners could train any dog to be vicious but if they did and let the dog off leash in public and injures someone they should face criminal charges.

Like I said....TRAINING..TRAINING..TRAINING..you can either train them TO BE VICIOUS...or...NOT TO BE VICIOUS...

until the pitbull has a little explosion in its head ... then all hell breaks loose. If they don't react the same way to pain as other dogs, if their instincts tell them to attack instead of to submit... then they are not the same as other dogs. I think I'm leaning towards Cesar being the expert over Thumper here ... sorry dude.

As the famous, revered, pit bull-loving dog whisperer Cesar Milan put it, when explaining why pit bulls cannot be treated like ordinary dogs:

“This is a different breed … the power that comes behind bull dog, pit bull, presa canario, the fighting breed — They have an extra boost, they can go into a zone, they don’t feel the pain anymore. … So if you are trying to create submission in a fighting breed, it’s not going to happen. They would rather die than surrender. … If you add pain, it only infuriates them … to them pain is that adrenaline rush, they are looking forward to that, they are addicted to it. … That’s why they are such great fighters. … You’re going to have these explosions over and over because there’s no limits in their brain.”

Pretty much, but Thumper won't think so.

Pitbulls in an off-leash park attacked and killed another dog. The owner of the pitbulls says they were "provoked".

Good thing that it wasn't a child that "provoked" them.

So what's the problem? Pitbulls? Or off leash parks? It seems to me this sort of attack is pack behavior, and is MUCH more likely to occur where dogs are running together off leash.
Duhhh!!!

The solution to this problem is obvious.

We need: MORE PITBULLS!

If every citizen was armed with a Pit Bull then they could protect themselves from the criminal Pit Bulls with their own Pit Bulls.

We need Pit Bulls in our schools to protect our children from all of the rogue Pit Bulls.

We need Pit Bulls in our movie theatres to protect patrons from dangerous Pit Bull attacks by other Pit Bulls.

My right to protect myself and my family from criminal Pit Bulls with my own Pit Bull is not just my right but my patriotic duty.

The government will pry my Pit Bull's leash FROM MY COLD, DEAD FINGERS!!!

Seems the pit bulls were on leash at the time of the attack and the owners of both dogs may be charged.
