Except you never can say about what they are really thinking, like maybe if i play it right, i can get me one also. A Mickey Mouse watch just won't cut it.
even then you can hardly say that your watch bought you a woman; at best your watch bought you a chance to bargain with a woman about her price - and it won't be cheap

Ad so can the right watch ;)
I have received many compliments from SP's for my Casio watch, sometimes to the extend that the hour went by without any of us getting naked.

I will be more serious and say that I do believe the more refined a man is in his style, including his selection of accessories, the better he is likely to do with the fairer sex.
This is true. But if I were to spend $30k with the goal of impressing the ladies, within those limits, I would spend it on clothes. Not only will good clothes make you look much better than a good watch, but women know clothes. They REALLY know clothes. Most of them don't know a damned thing about watches.

Then I would suggest that your Casio is running very fast, and thus to your detriment ;)

Gosh though, all this discussion based on an off-the-cuff remark.

don't you think you are giving women too much credit? if men don't give a fuck about their appearance (as is kinda evident from this thread) why do you think women do?

they don't REALLY know clothes either, but I think you are generally correct

I was once dating a woman who designed mens clothes and she had no clue about things like working buttons on a jacket, or about fused vs canvassed jacket...that was in Toronto, not some village either

True, but I wasn't particularly talking about the intricacies of a fine business suit. Rather, stylish casual/evening wear. Hit one of the high fashion designer stores on 5th Ave or equivalent and let their style consultant dress you within your $30k budget. Spend a day at it. Bring along a woman whose taste you value for companionship and fun, and for her opinion. You will walk out looking like a million bucks, all for only $30k. A deal for sure!

Aren't we always bargaining? It's just the currency that varies greatly.

The fact that she was a designer didn't mean she was good at it. She sounds like an unemployed designer.

that is very close to the truth...i don't think she has ever made it
it's a tough business to be in even if you know what you are doing, which she clearly did not

on a bright note, she was always happy to blow me in the car which suited me well

What do women really know about clothes, they button them backwards and put the zippers on the back. I just don't get ti.

Here's a picture of my watch. Doesn't look like much, I know, but its value is increasing.

Someone once gave me a shirt as a gift and the damn buttons were on the right side. I told him it was a woman's shirt, then he tried to convince me it was actually a British shirt and that is why the buttons were on the wrong side of the shirt (since the Brits also drive on the wrong side of the road).

I think if someone buying luxury watches he has already bought a luxury car. You cant drive old van and wear 30k watch.

And yes nice watch makes a difference, but not to everyone.

My everyday watch is a Omega Seamaster "James Bond" limited addition.A former MPA bought it for me for Christmas 4 years ago and I wear it 7 days a week.It feels great on my wrist,it looks great and it reminds me of her everyday of my life.
