Princess Caroline was the Sister of King George III, she died of Scarlet Fever at only the age of 23 at Celle, in the Electorate of Hanover.

Just as an aside, the current king of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, is a direct descendant of Princess Caroline Matilda of Wales (and officially King Christian VII of Denmark, but more likely that of Johann Struensee, as portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen), as is Princess Sophia of Greece, the wife and consort of King Juan Carlos I of Spain.

Then presumably through her mother, Queen Ingrid and Great-grandmother Queen Louise, who were both Princesses of Sweden, so is the Queen of Denmark. I know the present day Prussian Royal Family is.

Oh shit, stop this masturbation, Aardie. More pertinent is the fact that Mads Mikkelsen lives in Toronto.

Likewise, few here gives a a rat's ass about the genealogy of scandinavian royalty.
That, however, like most genealogy is interesting.

That some Bond movie "bad guy" lives in Toronto, not at all - - - now if you were talking about nubile, pleasant, Scandinavian professionals or businesswomen in Toronto - that might be a horse of a different colour.

I have understood that you and Blackie find the genealogy of royalty splashingly fascinating.

You are so preoccupied with your masturbation to the mention of royalty, that you have failed to realize, that this thread is about a motion picture, the main character of which is played by Mads Mikkelsen.

That is actually not correct, because King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is a direct descendant of Princess Caroline Matilda of Wales through his mother, Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, who is the daughter of Prince Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (a grandson of Queen Victoria) and his wife, Princess Karoline Mathilde of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg, a member of a German branch of an old Scandinavian royal family with roots to the ancient royal family of Denmark. Not through his father, Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden (who is the uncle of the Queen Margrethe of Denmark).

Instead of going over the entire genealogy of Carl XVI Gustaf, see this article in Wikipedia about Princess Caroline's daughter, Princess Louise Auguste of Denmark (legally a daughter of King Christian VII of Denmark, but her father was rumored to be Struensee).

You are correct about the present day Prussian Royal family, though, through the marriage of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany to Princess Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, a direct descendant of Louise Auguste of Denmark and thus also of Caroline Matilda of Wales (in actual fact, that's how Princess Sophia of Greece and her brother, the former King Constantine II of Greece are descended from Princess Caroline -- they are Kaiser Wilhelm II's great-grandchildren).

When did Mr. Mikkelsen move to Toronto? I was under the impression that he still lived in Denmark.
A couple of months ago, he is here with his family, at least his son, shooting a movie or something.

He's the lead character in a new NBC series called "Hannibal"...

...It's about an amateur chef who likes lamb meat and has a friend called Clarisse or something like that.

I didn't know that Francis Ford Coppola's production company had the distribution rights to A Royal Affair.

Mads Mikkelsen was outstanding as the ill fated Struensee, he attempted to modernize Denmark only to have his efforts rolled back by the incompetent new king that deposed him. That he's here in Toronto gives him an extra veneer of coolness.
