My point is, it's alot easier to find a DH. If we reallly wanted to, we might be able to sign these guys to a 1 year deal. Getting a good quality 2B is alot harder, and most likely we'll have to trade for one.

How about Rajai as the DH? He's not your typical DH but I figure you put him in the 9 spot with Reyes leading off and you'd have some serious speed on the basepaths!

Rajai's stats just aren't good enough to keep him in on a regular basis.
He goes through the odd little streak here and there but the long term numbers just don't pan out.
Better off strategically putting him out there at the manager's own discretion in ideal situations, rather than
forcing him to hit his way on base.

One reason why I'm looking forward to next year are the size of the crowds at the games. To state the obvious, Skydome is kinda dead when there's just 18,000 fans attending. The largest crowd I've seen was at Cito's last home game. It might have been about 35,000. Unfortunately I wasn't in Toronto in the early 1990s when they were selling out 50,000 seats every game.

that's when I regularly went to games.
I fell back in love with baseball last year - with the new roster and the ecstatic fan-base, this year is going to be awesome.

Not just Toronto, this Canada's team and the fans are coast to coast.
Normally I would go to a maximum of 5 games, this year at least 20, home opener, followed by John Farrell's "dream job" team on the Friday.

Exciting times for sure.

Jays averaged 4.42 runs per game this past year. I expect next year's offense will increase that number, and I expect the team era to go from this year's 4.64 to somewhere in the mid to high 3's next year. Are there any SP's close to the dome??? lol.

I'm sure there is something if you really look for. Similar to how yankees sign people like Andruw Jones, Raul Ibanez, Eric Chavez. Those are the similar cheapies I would like the Jays to explore.

Despite the tax consequences, I'd think that being a Blue Jay is attractive to players - (especially those who dreamed of being a Sports Star as kids).

Look at Bautista, Encarnation, and Lawrie.... they are stars right across an entire country (Bautista is obviously beyond-that).


I saw Dickey on John Stewart a couple of weeks-ago. He seems like a nice guy but specifically mentioned that he was worried about being traded to Toronto.... I think that he and guys like Reyes will have a total change of heart once they get here.

It'll be interesting to see how many Jays get into the All-Star game this year - I think it'll be like the 90s again (unlike our lone guy last season...)

Actually, he was speaking in generalities, and used Toronto & Los Angeles as examples of places he could be traded to. Likely brought those cities' names up as he had been linked to talks with all 3 teams. He wanted to stay in New York, as it was with the Mets that his career blossomed. There's also the uprooting of his family involved.

we are on paper. marlins had high expectations last year. they ended finishing last in their divsion. I expect the jays to perform, but if we dont, there will be alot of pressure from ownership

fyi. ibanez had 19 homers and 62 rbis in 384 pa last year. 500 plus pa will put him on pace for 25 plus homers and 80 plus rbis. that is solid for a cheap dh. Are u trying to say his playoff performance is not important?

I love your excitement! I love when hot girls cheer for the Jays and go to Jays games, it makes me so happy, baseball is back in Toronto! When I was a kid I went to baseball camp, I wanted to be a professional baseball player, I was inspired by the winning ways of the Jays in the early 90's.
