CIA Director Petraeus Resigns, Citing an Affair

It's been a busy week in Washington...

CIA Director David H. Petraeus, the retired four-star general who oversaw U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, resigned from his position today due to an extramarital affair.

“After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair,” Petraeus wrote in a letter to Central Intelligence Agency employees. “Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”

Petraeus said President Barack Obama accepted his resignation today.

“By any measure, he was one of the outstanding general officers of his generation, helping our military adapt to new challenges,” Obama said in a statement. In Iraq and Afghanistan, Petraeus “helped our nation put those wars on a path to a responsible end.”

Who knows, I'm just sick of this moral BS we still have to live through. You got the secret service-in large numbers-picking up escorts and now this..yet we are still fed this bull how having more then one partner so shameful.

Back to thread. He was a security risk. You don't have affairs being in his position.
He also may be implicated in a trial of a fellow general.
There is a lot more to this and we will find out.
Bigger issue is how Obama administration kept this quiet before election.
FBI was investigating for long time. He was careless.
