I am surprised none of the supposedly innumeral psychologists in the military, FBI and the CIA did not pick up the signals she broadcast during this interview. I did, maybe helped by hindsight.

No politics tonight, I'm just here to have a little fun.
Look at you & Danmand, getting along like two old buddies, here in the Lounge away from that snakepit Politics Forum!

Maybe they just thought she was squirming at the sight of creepy ol' Imus across the desk:

Yikes!!!!

Then as I wrote over on politics: God I feel sorry for her husband and children.
Paula and her husband are young, they will have other chances. Poor old Holly is the one you should feel sorry about.

Poor Dave was FORCED into having an affair, as befitting a man of his station. It would be low-class for him NOT to have strayed.............
TERB, is certainly not the right forum, but not everyone does. Further I know that it takes two to Tango, but I really feel for her husband who has a very high stress career as it is.

I was just kiddin' about that; a little play on the infamous "cheating is classy" threads from awhile ago. It's all good fun until someone gets hurt, like the spouses & kids. He at least did the right thing in resigning, sex and spycraft aren't a good combination.
Hey, has anyone seen the latest Bond movie yet?

If you look at the background of both Petraeus and Broadwell its no surprise that they had an affair....

Both are intellectuals...Both are Graduates from West Point (top of their class)....Strong Military Backgroud....Both are athletic and being fit is important part of who they are.....
They are both very driven, ambitious and professional....

If Petraues had met Paula Broadwell and Holly at the same time he probably would have picked Paula (except a woman like Broadwell wouldn't have existed 40 years)....

Why do you think she started this thread?

Because she's interested in CIA politics?

Or she wants to show your her photo?

I'll give you one guess.
Thank you for making assumptions about my intent and participation on the board, perhaps you might ask yourself why so few ladies actually participate on the board outside of advertising. I actually thought it was quite an important news story and when I logged on Terb an no one had yet posted it I thought I'd share it. Yes it was a quiet day for me, for personal reasons I had to stay home all day so I was watching some tv and surfing the net much like most people do when they are bored at home. Try not to be so cynical.
As for why I didn't immediately post again, because the responses were about me and not the topic on hand which I didn't feel warranted a response. If you notice in my posting history I don't respond to the threads when someone responds with "nice pics" posts. If it's not on topic then I don't feel the need to respond and really if I'd responded to the comments about me then someone would have said something about my creating a thread in the lounge to advertise myself so I suppose I was damned if I do and damned if I don't. I've posted many a time on Terb with posts "that takes thought, time, and effort" and it's because of comments like yours I had stopped.

As for the topic on hand, I really don't like to speculate as to the reasons why someone would resign a post such as this without additional information but the interesting factor to me is the US fascination with ones personal life and how it affects their position. I understand the idea of integrity however I think it takes it too far when you ask a person to be faithful in their marriage or lose their job. What happens in your personal life should stay there and what happens at your work is separate, so to me unless the two should cross and you are suddenly sleeping with someone at the office or your personal life is interfering with job performance then fidelity in your marriage isn't an issue with work no matter what level you are at in your position.

You should not have responded to his assumption or whatever he was implying.
You gave it creditibility now and not in the sense it is true.
You never have to justify what you do or why to anybody in life.

The issue is blackmailability -certainly it is there, beyond the embarrassment and family dislocation, consider the financial implications after having been married for almost 40 years (military pensions in the U.S. are considered a marital asset).

Supposedly this was going on while he was Commander ISAF and USFOR-A. When he became D/CIA a national background check was done (those who have had one done remember how they turn over every rock since you were a child).

In General Petraeus case supposedly this was done by the CIA rather than the FBI. So was this honking huge red flag as to blackmail potential overlooked, or was it considered not to be a risk because the affair was over. If it was the later, why a week before he was supposed to testify before Congress (and he can still be subpoenaed to do so) does he fall on his sword regarding the affair, if it was the former is this sort of being able to walk an elephant through the kitchen incompetence common these days?
