So, first you have this huge pack to carry around in your pocket, and second, you can't use your phone while it's charging. You're either doing a quick charge, which grossly reduces the lifespan of the battery that you can't swap.

Spare batteries for my phone cost $5 on eBay, by the way.
First off, the battery pack with micro-usb for my Galaxy S is hardly bigger than the actual battery itself. True, you can't use it while it is recharging the phone but at least I don't have to rip off my case first to replace the battery like you do.

And you're falling into the same trap that most Android fanbois do, they focus on specs to decide what is a "toy". Well, that sort of argument didn't wash when people were attacking Apple for their "toy computers" and it doesn't wash now especially when it comes to something as minor as whether or not your phone has a replaceable battery.

LMAO!!!
Our resident Apple salesman nibs will tell you THAT is the problem.....FFS!!!

You are using cheapo non-approved non-Apple batteries!

If you used an official, better engineered, Apple battery w/an official Apple logo, costing >$100 dollars, you wouldn't have these issues!

I can swap my battery in under 20 seconds. This is not an issue. You have to sit there staring at your phone not using it for god knows how long while it charges, and you think that is a solution... And I am not focussing on specs, I actually do this almost every day. An iPhone simply doesn't have enough juice to be a serious phone. At least not for people who use phones as much as I do.

the hobby needs more capitalism
I have no idea how people are getting O/S without iTunes. My Android tablet updated to ICS without the need to tether to a PC but my iPhone always requires tethering. If the iPhone O/S can be updated without tethering, it could be new O/S functionality that I have recently refused to update.
This functionality has been available since iOS 5.

Its OK if you can't afford an iPhone. Lots of people are going through economic stress right now.

The iPhone would be cheaper as it would be subsidized by the carrier. I didn't want a toy phone, though, so I bought a proper phone at full price.

Have you actually used an iPhone? Mine can last up to 3 days without needing a recharge but I do use my Nokia a lot.

Ah, just as I thought. I'm on Version 4.3.3 and ignoring the requests to up date the O/S. I haven't encountered any apps refusing to update because of the operating system (happened the last time I reluctantly upgraded).

I have a few non-apple apps but MyWi is a sweet app that turns my iPhone into a WiFi hotspot with my tablet which I use daily. I can't risk loosing it and I haven't found out if the new O/S has a jailbreak.

I'm definitely going Android - probably S-III in a few months so I won't bother. The iPhone will become my iPod for the car so it still will live.

Perhaps it will be corrected in the upcoming iPhone5s.....;)

You're missing out. Why willfully resign yourself to less when you can have more? I don't need every app on my Android but having them makes little things even easier. I don't need a barcode scanner app, but it's helpful to compare prices on items (especially large ticket items) when I'm shopping. I don't need the level app but when I was setting up my aquirium, it was helpful because it allowed me to level it without the need for a physical tool. I don't need the flashlight app, but it's helpful when I dropped my keys in the dark. I don't need the Badoo app but it helped me meet girls in my area and get laid. I don't need the alarm clock app but when I couldn't figure out the settings on the hotel clock and didn't want to depend only on a wake-up call, I used it to wake me up. I don't need the Flixter app but it's really handy to know what movies are playing where, what time, and locations, ditto for the hipmunk app in locating hotels and flights. There are so many useful apps and more intuitive functionality of non-blackberry phones that to limit yourself makes no sense. But if you want to continue using a typewriter in the era of computers because it does what you need (print letters on paper), by all means do so.

Greater efficiency = greater productivity = win
I have a BB Torch and I have most of the apps you noted. That said, I wish I had a better camera and screen on the thing, but I happen to like the device as a communication tool. A friend of mine told me she's getting rid of her S3 because of a ton of dropped calls, and until I heard and now read about that I was planning on getting an S3. I can't say I've ever liked the iPhone much, partly because I still love a physical keyboard and party because I like expandable memory (I need at least 32Gb for music), and I prefer a swappable battery. I may consider a iPhone4 now that the prices will go way down, or I may wait and see what BB10 has in store.

Even tho I've always been an iphone guy (I had a every model) after my friend purchased a Galaxy and I had some playtime with it I like the Galaxy better. Imo the Galaxy is more customizable and I love the camera and vid.

My nex phone will be a Galaxy... I have the i4 now.
Me too! I don't like being controlled unless I'm in the bedroom and Apple is getting on my nerves with their control issues. I'm moving to the Galaxy.

A further update now that I've had the Galaxy III for four days...

It is a P in the A to use...it took me forever to figure out how to change the calendar notification sound. If you go to Settings and then Sounds, it lets you select what it calls the notification sound - but this is NOT the notification sound. It's the received text message sound. And the only other sound you can change in the Settings menu is the ringtone. An internet search was also of no help. I eventually found out that if you go to the calendar page and press the magic invisible button (you know - the one that gives you a context-sensitive menu like right-clicking in Windows), a menu appears with a Settings option. If you select this, it takes you to a special settings page for the calendar app.

Honestly, it is like the manufacturers deliberately made the device difficult to use. Why call the received text message sound Notification if it is separate from the Notification sound? And why make the magic button invisible?

I used to joke that 'iPhones are for strippers, not businessmen'.

In any event, here are the comments from a friend who switched from BB to Samsung's Galaxy III:

I’m not a fan of the touch screen personally speaking. I prefer the blackberry.
Also, I’ve been having a lot of trouble receiving my business emails since I switched over. The Samsung email interface is not very good. Blackberry’s is way better for email.
And lastly, the battery life sucks on this phone. I need to charge it 2 times a day.

But other than that, the galaxy is a great phone. It’s actually better than the Iphone 5 I’ve been told.
