Thanks, I went to the FireFox website and noticed Version 15 is available and downloaded it. How is Version 15 compared to Version 12? Does it slow down your computer?
Don't really use FF that much, so couldn't tell you.
I use Chrome and Opera the most because they were always faster than FF.

Hi WoodPeckr, right...Firefox is bloated, so I try to avoid it.

Opera works well, and with some addons can almost get it working as I have Firefox setup to handle cookies & JavaScript.

Also on Linux there is stuff like Iceweasel which sometimes comes default on some distros.

Iceweasel is only Debian and derivatives that DON'T roll their own Firefox. No?

I suspect you won't notice much (human perceptible) difference in speed between FF 12 and FF 15. Though, as with any browser or anything else exposed to the web, always run the newest version to minimize security holes. People can debate FF vs Webkit based vs Opera all day long-- The big thing is get away from IE, keep it updated, and disable as much shit (err, plugins) as you can.

What do you think of Iceweasel?
Is it any better than FireFox?
I never really went for FireFox.

I did use SeaMonkey awhile back and liked it.
SeaMonkey reminded me of the old Netscape browser when Netscape was at its apex beating out IE. SeaMonkey played videos great.

Was there a FF 13 and 14?
FF started a new fast versioning scheme, so 'yes'. I cheesed off a lot of linux distros because their 'major versions' are far more like minor versions now and that makes for long term support issues.

EDIT: AND IS THE POST ABOVE SOME WEIRD TYPE OF SPAM? (Turbin You are not...)

IceWeasel (the cold opposite of a Fire Fox) is the FireFox browser, rebranded to settle intellectual property issues over the name Firefox (coupled with the fact that a couple different patches were being built in than were in the official distro).

Not sure since I don't use FF but the last couple weeks I noticed there have been a more than normal amount of automatic FF upgrades.

Yeah, noticed that when doing the Google on IceWeasel.

That shouldn't happen.
Something else is going on.
Run your malware and security scans for a possible highjacking....;)

There's been that horrible rash of zero day bugs for Flash, Java, and Acrobat-- and the patch Tuesday before last from Microsoft was 'bad'. Now is a very good time for all windows users to 'scan the shit out of their shit', or do a fresh install.

edit: Aslo, the Iceweasel thing was more about straight trademark stuff than IP. To brand a thing FF it has to come from Mozilla (or an approved mirror) and allow their updates. This is to keep 'poisoned versions' of FF from popping up on the web, but most linux distros host their own software and do their own updates. To be 'legal' they shouldn't be using the Firefox name, though many do. It's largely the same on the Chrome side...
