What is she thinking? Does she really believe that dressing sexy gives men the right to rape women?

How a woman is dressed certainly does not give anyone the right to do anything.

Same as wearing expensive jewelry and counting out bills while walking in a bad area at night in some South American country does not give anyone the right to kill you and take your money and jewelry.

However, it is a good idea to take some responsibility for your own actions by not drawing attention to yourself, and by not putting yourself in a bad position.

Yes, a woman has a right to dress how she pleases.

Over here is a dude walking about flashing a wallet full of hundreds, loud, boastful, brash, pissed. He's perfectly entitled to be and to do those things. Over there is a dude who is quiet, sober, and self-confident. Which one is going to get robbed on the way home?

Play the percentages.

There is no evidence that dress is a risk factor. It's a myth perpetrated by moralizing religious conservatives who hope bad things will happen to people who have sex out of wedlock.

I agree that women should take responsibility for their safety, but that means avoiding dark alleys and such, not wearing a hijab.

I really doubt if anyone got raped. for goodness sake. these are termed by the police as "sexual assaults". that can be an ass grope or a full blown gang rape. this politico speak does nobody any good. as for clothes influencing some men...of course it does. to deny it would be rediculous. who looks at a big fat ***** woman dressed awful? and who looks at a young slim woman in heels and short skirt? some guys will go the extra mile. as somebody already said...play the percentages. i avoid bad areas of town. not because the bad guys are allowed to rob me and beat me, just because they will.

she goes to my gym, tripped me out. anyway, the don;t dress like a slut theory is half true. Most likely a rapist is gonna choose to attack a woman whos dressed more slutty than not. I mean, how many muslim women wearing burkas are attacked? I bet not many.

thats bs, women who wear revealing clothes turn men on more than women who dress conservative unless of course shes discusting. now obviously rape is sometimes a crime of opportunity and the rapist doesnt descriminate. there are different kinds of rape so its not black and white. rape is also more about power and control than sexual gratification, but a man is more likely to rape a girl whose showing off her goods bc they can see it, its hot. most men like attractive women who show off their goods, maybe not for a longterm relationship but for a good lay

Again, no evidence for that. In fact, rapists may prefer conservatively dressed women because the take by force mentality wants what is forbidden, not what is on offer.

Sometimes? Pretty much always.

ms ford is big enough to defend herself. most women are not. it does them a dis-service to pretend that "sexual assault" is an equal opportunity enterprise. it isn't. clothes, demeanour, location, time of day and probably more factors play a part. all the women i saw interviewed on tv were white/young and pretty. so even the tv stations seem to suggest who the target audience for this presumed guy are. we do know that those huge women dressed in full cover are never attacked (at least outside the family). if my daughter said 'i can dress however i want and go where-ever i want anytime", i would prepare myself for the worst. almost a guarantee. what can be wrong with admitting the causes? not to excuse the action. but perhaps to save some poor ladies from a bad time.

"Don't dress like a whore"

I agree. Ladies should not dress like a whore. Now if someone will just show me how the typical whore dresses then we'll all know how to not dress...

do women in the sex industry dress conservative? if the rapist is raping for sexual pleasure, how shes dressed matters. if hes doing it simply for power and control, its much less relevant

a slutty looking girl is more likely to be streetwise, hardassed and able to defend herself , whereas a shy girl next door with an innocent air might just trigger an attack.... but I think dressing in a clownsuit is the safest bet of all
