What goes around......

Perhaps there was some money leftover from the ads they ran last year supporting McGuinty. :biggrin1:
Thats too funny,...and poetic justice also.

I wonder were they got the money to pay for the lawyers ???

FAST
Um, from dues?

I know my PEO dues pay for legal council. I would expect the teachers would too.

I also agree with comments that this bill should legislate all civil servants to a freeze, not just focus on teachers but that would be even more confrontational at a time of by-elections.

Paid for by their labour?

That's sort of how the system works. I know some engineers who work for the government too. They pay the same amount to their PEO dues that I do and earned it the same way. I won't hold teachers to any different standard.

The system,...My tax money is used by unions to sue the government, their employer, to increase their income, and my tax rate !!!!

Actually once they've been paid, it's their money. If you want to argue that they don't deserve the money they earned or that they shouldn't have the right to spend their money on lawyers that is a different issue.

If the stories are true, it seems Dalton is doing the biting of the teachers' hands after their political capital got him elected.

Absolutely. I guess he figures in the Waterloo byelection he'll steal votes from the Conservatives. I doubt it, but I guess we'll see.

UPDATE: The Toronto Sun's Christina Blizzard makes a point that is very true but will make Liberals even more uncomfortable.

After eight years of saying he wants to be remembered as the Education Premier, McGuinty's sudden shocking crack-down on teacher unions is more far-reaching than anything former Tory Premier Mike Harris ever tried.

She's right. Harris didn't stomp on collective bargaining the way McGuinty is doing.

I'm thinking that McWimpy is just playing a game to get PC votes, knowing full well he will lose this battle with the union.

And still, the pro-union voices remain strangely quiet. Maybe because it's Friday.
You aren't really surprised are you? They are not really known for their ability to adjust to changing conditions. Once the cool-aid has been taken.....

Perhaps not.

Still, it's noteworthy that Dalton McGuinty is crushing collective bargaining in Ontario in the same year that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was able to reach a negotiated agreement with CUPE.

If you're a Liberal, that's gotta hurt. :D

So your argument is that if you are a government employee you should not be able to use your income to sue your employer?

Does your argument hold true for the private sector as well?
